Mowbary on Stansfield is actually encouraging 08:31 - Jan 17 with 3723 viewsGeoffSentence

The window is still open to get him.
Mogga doesn't know if he wants to stay.
He wants to play.
He wants to do the best for his career.

I'd say it opens up the possibility that he could still come here, something I thought had gone.

We keep hearing it is a 'small window' but it hasn't passed yet. So makes you wonder whether that window to recall is even open yet or is about to open.

I said exactly that in the comments..... also think and know are two entirely different words. ....also Mogga knows he wouldn't be coming here to play twice!

I do find it interesting that Mowbray has come out to say this when in reality he really didn't need to.

Think this was from his first press conference as Brum manager, he would have been asked about it.

What could he have said, when asked 'what's the situation with Stansfield now? Has the window for this closed yet?' ? He wouldn't look very well organised if he said he had no idea.

I’m not sure on this one.

I actually think this one would have been easier to do as it’s a loan.

-Player wants to come to PR
-Birmingham have no real say over it and player gets recalled as part of the original agreement
-Fulham send him to a club that plays far more attractive football with the same guarantee of minutes
- Fulham still keep him permanently

Nobody really loses apart from Birmingham who have no say.

See also the Sarmiento deal.

I think if Stansfield was to be done then it already would have been.

Tbf...No, it hasn’t closed,” Mowbray told Birmingham World following his side’s third-round FA Cup victory over Hull City in which Stansfield netted his eighth goal of the season

I thought that, but I'd assumed the recall window would have been early on. If it hasn't opened yet then we couldn't have signed him already.

Didn't someone say he signed with Birmingham on the 24th, if the recall was related to a year contract then that would be the reason for the small window 24-31 Jan?

This time next week...

That's a good point. Id assumed it was early, but maybe the window is actually late.

That is exactly what I took from it, didn't sound like that window is even open yet, if it is a small window it could well correlate with his signing date which was the 24th Aug.

Interesting it's been left so late! Evidently Fulham didn't see him as a player they may want/need back themselves in January.

Mowbray didn't play him as a 9 in his first league match. Whether that's because Stansfield prefers a deeper position or because Mowbray wanted to experiment I don't know.

It was also pretty clear he was referring to Ipswich when there has been interest. Does sound promising

Mowbary on Stansfield is actually encouraging on 10:46 - Jan 17 with 2005 viewsChampionsofInnsbruck

This is nothing more than, there is interest, he's spoken with the player and advised him to stay. I suspect that if there was a deal to be done our end, it would have been by now, the fact we've since move on to other targets suggests so. He could end up at a lower Premier League team reading the comments about needing to play regular in the Championship at this stage in his career rather than being on a bench.

We know than the terrible Blackburn board have priced their recently injured, soon to be out of contract player, Sam Gallagher, out of the market so we definitely will be looking elsewhere and if Gallagher can come here on a free in a few months time. Blackburn are a basket case.

I'm not sure what else Town can do if the recall option in Stansfield's Fulham to Birmingham deal isn't yet 'open'? No doubt were in negotiations with Fulham (I gather were discussing both permanent and loan deals for him), but until they can officially recall him, there isn't much more we can do.

I don't think Mowbray said the recall option isn't "open" yet - he said that the period isn't closed yet - which could mean it's already open & that Fulham just haven't exercised the recall as yet.

I must be the only one not that excited over the possibility?

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a talented player and would welcome him as an addition to the squad.

But he is in no way a Hirst replacement that we need more.

He's said it's a tight window in which Fulham have the option to recall. So you can easily make the assumption from that the window likely hasn't been open yet. Also said that the Fulham manager hasn't been taking his calls over the last few days, which is interesting.

We need two strikers IMO and he would fit the 'technically more gifted' striker vacancy. Dangerous when running with the ball and covers loads of ground.
