O'brien from Forest, spent last season at Boro and Rushworth from Brighton again.

Poll: Has our squad been improved this summer?

Thought O'Brien looked very good in the game at PR, always seemed to be on the ball for them and kept them ticking over nicely.

He was a good player for Huddersfield and then joined the 50 others at Forest that stunted his career as you'd expect.

Rushworth continues to be linked, must be some truth in that one. From various sources now.

Not sure if either would be permenant though?!

Why would they not be permanent?

O'Brien born in Colchester so hoped he might be a boyhood Town fan...but turns out he's a Man City fan...

I think he’s a good player, but I can’t help but think we need a bit of pace and power alongside Morsy in midfield next season.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Because Brighton may see Rushworth as one for the future?

Agree. Wonder if more than one signs? But then not sure what that'd mean for Taylor?

Rishworth maybe as speculation from lots of sources. As for O'brien think we need better not a lot of football last two seasons for various reasons excluded out a 25 man squad at Forest a side who finished 4th bottom think we need to be more ambitious than this.

It's a tricky one. I agree we need more pace and power in the side generally, and a bit more physical heft, but the way we play also relies on CMs with a low centre of gravity who can receive the ball in tight spaces and create themselves half a yard to either drive forward or move the ball on. There's not too many bigger lads that can do that, so we're probably going to have to tweak how we play slightly if we want to get more size and speed into the side.

O'brien went on loan to Boro last season, played plenty of games?

Think people think way too narrowly when it comes to potential signings. Luongo couldn't get a game for Middlesborough and they let him go for free to join us, last season he was excellent in midfield for a side that stormed the Championship. It's about whether a player has the attributes that we need and whether McKenna feels they suit our system and he can improve them much more than it's about what they've done at their current club.

Quite. Not to mention just because we're PL doesn't mean we will be splashing out 10m a pop on every player. We need a fair few, so there will be some "cheaper" options within that you'd have thought.

You don’t need to be short to have quick feet! Such an odd comment!

At a guess I'd say it's Walton, possibly to Sheff Wed as he said that Sheff Wed story is in that story.

I'd also guess El Miz to Watford or Derby is the other news.

You can’t be using Forest’s strategy of signing a hundred individual players and selecting the 23 most expensive for their squad as a barometer for how good their squad players are.

It’s this thinking that has landed them in hot water.

I completely trust KM with selecting the right players here. I’ll give you Luongo as an example.

Which exactly fits our Gamechanger-era transfer strategy. A mix of undervalued players from the same level or above, talent from lower divisions and a sprinkling of more expensive hirings with good experience or much promise.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

We want O’Brien because Sheaf may cost well over £10m and we want Rushworth because Hladky may be off (and Walton set to stay). Can’t see any other Ipswich news in his other dispatches.

His dad lived in ipswich for about 10 years though and used to go to PR a decent amount in the 90s but was a big man city fan.

My mate used to teach up in Rochdale I think it was, knows him very well think Dad is military hence the Colchester birthplace presumably.

When he was linked last year I got him to text Lewis, said there was no contact from Town....

Someone like this? Not someone who couldn’t even make Forest’s 25 man squad.

FWIW, fully trust McKenna and co to get it right and it’s normally done behind the scenes, but the names being banded about at the moment are Championship signings.
