I love Portugal, the people are great and in particular Madeira is lovely. But I’ve detested that cheat Ronaldo for years. Watching him blub - hilarious.
There have been plenty of players in footballing history better than him too.

I'll happily hate on Ronaldo but in fairness to him he was hitting them well, it was fair enough to think one might go in eventually.
I wasn’t actually ‘hating’ on him here, to be honest. It was more regarding the commentary, as they said it a few times… and it’s quite a disservice to the other Portuguese players to call it that.

Messi, Pele, Maradona, George Best. That’s without even thinking about it. He’s not even the best player to play for Portugal. That’s the great Eusebio - who also happened to be a gentleman too.

It’s not all just about stats though surely. I mean, for example, Paul Gascoigne didn’t have half the career that Frank Lampard did but, at his best, was a far superior player.

Ronaldo was electric until the last 5 years, then became a pure box player. Ronaldo in full flow was a joy to watch.
