I'm getting to the point of thinking is this all worth it for a player with no prem experience and an agent who is quite frankly the biggest d**khead going.
Just get Greaves through the door.

He's still a high quality player whom McKenna has thought it worth us trying to hire. The kind of bloke worth fighting for.
The apparent circus is largely down to media outlets, Xers and pundits who have to produce material about every three hours to keep the fans of Ipswich, Hull, Villa and various other clubs satisfied/interested/clicking. How much bearing it has on reality (as with the McKenna saga) we don't actually know.
Does anyone know what the Villa buyback means ? Can they match terms and he is a Villa player or can he decide which club he prefers?
Thought he had decided upon us until the buyback became active that delays things and now presumably there is a set time for interested parties to put this to bed. He will.be worth it if he wants to come

Villa match our bid but the player chooses where he wants to go.

Unless he prefers Villa
I think this is what has happened - Now we need to redo the Greaves deal and Hull want the double deal with us but hands are tied, so now possibly saying they arent going to sell to Villa - all speculation but how I am reading the situation.
I would imagine Ashton and co have backups and hopefully already started working on these

I've seen a few people expressing similar opinions.
Transfers aren't there to entertain the fans. The fact it's taking a while doesn't matter. If this sort of thing had happend in League One I doubt we'd have even noticed as we wouldn't have had lots of journalists notifying us every 10 minutes.
I posted this elsewhere but by the sounds of it it's not like we've been in a bidding war or anything. We've had a bid accepted, agreed terms with the player and now he's deciding which of the other accepted bids he's interested in. That's just football.
It’s all fairly standard stuff really. Now we’re in the PL we’ll struggle to keep our dealings under wraps. If, like Ashton, my job got reported every few hours then people would also think it’s not worth it. Ashton is paid handsomely to deal with this.
We can only sit back and wait. The media circus is there for football fans who need constant stimulation.
If I’m in Philogene’s situation then I’m definitely weighing up my options if I receive 4/5 new job offers. He owes nothing to the clubs who are touting him - including us.

I was still confident of him coming here until the reports of Villa selling Diaby to the Saudi league came out; that does change things somewhat, as his chances of playing regularly there would increase significantly. Hopefully it's sorted, one way or the other, early this morning.

Are you sure that Villa can't force him to go back ? And then he refuses to have his name on the back of the shirt and has 'The player formerly known as Philogenes' instead. And then he ditches that idea and just has this symbol...why isn't there an emoji for the Prince symbol ?
For all we know the player told the club that he’ll make his mind up by the end of the week. All of the other stories could just be Twitter accounts etc making up stuff. Just pointless noise made louder by how many people retweet it.

These posts are pointless, there are clearly many moving parts in this and we don’t know where the holds up start and end.
Young footballers don’t grow up dreaming of playing for Ipswich, they dream of playing in the PL, Europe and for their country - so we have to sell ourselves to them and McKenna and team will have done this.
If that is enough and he signs on the dotted line then it’s great, if it isn’t and we get beaten to the punch then it will be disappointing because a huge amount of hard work will have gone into it.
Talent is rare, there is much more competition for what we can get now so it’s much harder

Course he is or we wouldn’t be doing it would we?

Spot on Joe. . This preemptive blubbing from numerous people on here, about a player who still may sign for us,is more tedious than the actual transfer itself!

Then it's hard to figure why he is already not here
Just wants to see what they are putting on the table in terms of personal deal, playing prospects and so on. Which is not simply a matter of reading a brochure.
There will be a sales pitch, probably a chat with Emery (which may have to be fitted into a full diary) and perhaps an element of negotiation. After that, he has to sit down with his people and family to make a decision between two very tempting options. An important choice for his future career.

Surely this explains everything. Philogene is still a Hull player by contract therefore he is with the squad on their pre season training even if he is not training as part of the team.
Just because both Ipswich and villa have agreed with Hull to buy the player does not mean that the player nor his representatives have agreed a deal with either club.
Once all of the contracts have been signed then we will all find out the destination of the player.

There are 3 separate clauses on Jaden's contract relating to Villa - a sell-on, matching rights, and a buyback...
The buyback is void - Villa have the right to buy Jaden back for a set fee of £15m (on a contract on a pre-arranged wage) IF Hull are promoted to the Premier League. Hull weren't, so Villa can't activate the clause.
Matching rights - Hull are obliged to tell Villa of any bids they've received and accepted for Jaden, and Villa then have 72 hours to match the bids. Jaden will obviously have the final say in which club he decides to join (if any)
Villa have a 30% sell-on clause on Jaden's contract, so if we sign him for the reported bid of £18m, they will receive £5.4m of that from us (via Hull). If Villa sign him, because of that clause, they will only have to pay Hull £12.6m (kerching - cashback)
It does stink a bit of Villa realising they can pick up a £20m+ player in a cut price deal with a view to selling on at a profit at a later date; he wasn't given much of a crack at the first team in his first stint at the club, so hopefully that's still in the back of his mind.
Go outside, walk the dog, play the piano or draw a fackin picture, I dunno, write a poem or something? Or do some work. Maybe you're unlucky and have to work outside in this predictably sh1tty Summer. Either way, stop clicking man x

Coming round to the view that the double deal over states Greaves value and understates Philogene’s so Hull get to keep more of our money.

The pod they done last night suggested that the bid is higher than 18m, although wouldn't give specifics.
Said that Ipswich remain favourites and Hull would prefer to do business with us so I suspect Hull are pushing things from their end.
Very critical of his agent who is going round telling every club that he wants to sign for them etc. I guess we will see what happens. JP is still in Turkey though and training away from the main squad.
