The extra 1000 seats? 20:14 - Aug 17 with 3663 viewsbluelagos

So we lost seats to a bigger press area and to more camera spots. Presume there was a little bit less segregation than previously - but wondering where the additional 1k seats are?

Second question - (I don't know the answer) - when was the last time before today we got a 30K+ crowd?

We dont actually lose seats to the press as they still count. They have filled in at least one of the openings down into the stands. Those new boxes have more in.

The new hospitality area, North stand end of West Stand isn't completed yet and presumably the new sky box above the tunnel area will increase capacity further.

Why would they be? They’re not buying a ticket anyone else could buy.

Are paramedics, ball boys, stewards, concession staff etc. included in the attendance to then? They attended too.

Really? I was under the impression that attendance was always taken by the amount tickets sold. Hence higher numbers than actual bodies in the ground when the club wasn't doing so well, as season ticket holders not attending would still count.

Not saying your incorrect, as obviously the tickets sold can be added to staff, emergency services etc. I'd just never considered that to be the case.

Reminds me of the FA cup match with Leeds when 38,010 people crammed into Portman Road. I was there!!

The season ticket point is correct, yes. I gather that they include these regardless of whether the fan turns up.

Surely it's paying punters only? Otherwise Stewards, Cameramen, Coppers, Groundsmen, officials etc would all count.

Whether the media pay for the pleasure, no idea.

Railed seating, new executive boxes, comfy seating in block X replaced by ordinary seating, I noticed some infill in South East corner...

The answer to this in simpler than many have suggested.
D Block with its spacious seats removed and extra away capacity crammed into that space in standard seats, plus covering entrance.
X Block in SBR reconfigured with again less spacious seats replacing previously spacious premium ones.
Y Block in effect moved to the back which roughly compensates what's lost at the front to the press box.
Bottom right area of Visitors section no longer segregated by cloth, again gaining some seats.
Many marginal gains leads to the nearly 1000 gain which must be good news.

Capacity is a tad over 30,000 and that’s how many seats are available. There’s no way all the support staff are counted in attendance figures.

Who are the guys who stand on the old terrace steps in between the North and Cobbold?

Is that groundstaff? Must feel oldschool having the room to run up and down the terrace celebrating a goal!
