Embarrassing.

Our manager is one of the best young managers in the world. He’s already delivered more than any of us could have ever hoped for when he was appointed. He rarely gets it wrong and his team never gives up. This group of players have either already given us more enjoyment and pride in the last two seasons than any of their predecessors have done for twenty years or they are new having played at most, a handful of games for us. Even without the late goal we matched or bettered Southampton in every key area.

If you can’t get fully behind the club at the moment, we really aren’t the club for you. Maybe consider switching your support to Man City.

We were pretty crap in the 2nd half to be fair and I don't think there was much in the way of hyperbole. Certainly lots of frustration and it's not unreasonable for people to express emotions accordingly.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

We’re all behind them. Just saying it, as we see it. We were poor. Especially 2nd half.

We weren't crap, we just didn't create as much as the first half. Could've been out of sight at half time. 13 shots, 6 on target, wins most games.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Pretty crap yeah, as an offhand way of saying 'a bit rubbish'. Struggled to create anything, lots of poor passing, lots of silly fouls etc.

Looked for all the world the game was petering out to a 1-0.

As painful as this is to say... have to credit Martin to a degree. Our failure to take advantage of our dominance in the first half meant he could make some tactical tweaks at half time, and I think they limited our play. And perhaps the pressure of the game (despite McKenna stating it wasn't a "six pointer") started to show as time went on too.

I get that and there were times today, especially in the second half when it was frustrating and we were below the high levels that have been set recently. It just feels a bit “off” to be criticising them this early in the season especially during a game when as was eventually proved we were always in.

Expectations from a section of our fans are too high for a newly promoted team. There’s no doubt that the (by our standards) huge investment in the summer has raised the hopes of a lot of fans but the reality is our starting point was miles behind every other team in terms of individual quality and squad depth. Even now, I doubt that there are any other managers in the premier league who would swap their squad for ours.

Embarrassing isn't the word. The last time I checked, football was a 90 minute game and our fans should know this team under McKenna will keep going until the final whistle.

A few new names added to my ignore list though.

Not seen it. Phil says in his report and the BBC stats suggest a draw was a fair result. I take it you, having watched it, say not and we deserved zippo as we were ‘pretty cr@p 2nd half’.

Fair enough, the game is of course about opinions.

Somewhere in-between the ridiculous negativity and you're overly positive take - there's a realistic assessment.

Southampton's xG was double ours and TBF Martin's tactics outmanoeuvred McKenna's. Fortunately we got a lucky equaliser and we can go away after a slightly underwhelming performance with a decent point on the road.

In defence of the frustration, if this has been against Brighton or maybe even Fulham (and, of course, Liverpool and Manchester City) I don't think the criticism would have been anywhere near the level it was today. Maybe unreasonably, I think tt was because it was Southampton. To struggle to piece play together against them, as we did in the second half, is going to get more of a reaction than if it happens against the established Premier League sides - perhaps Everton excluded.

No a point was fair enough on balance as we were good first half and not so much second half. A lot of our play was poor and frustrating in the 2nd which elicited frustrated posts on here. I never get why we always end up with OPs like this one that like to try and sit high and mighty above people just making a snap emotional reaction to an action in the game.

Give yourself a kick up the arse.

This group is still only getting used to each other as people and footballers. Even if they have an off day(allowed) they still work their bol** off. They go until the end.

Proud of them every time they take to the pitch and just as proud walking off no matter what the result.

Football is the game for me but as I said in my original post those who want criticise us today, playing away from home and still in the game should maybe re-consider if Ipswich is the team for them.

Isn't the point that it wasn't a poor performance? And also a perfectly rational response to tell them to get a grip?

I disagree. There's going to be dissection, praise and criticism on a football forum or even down the pub. That's the life of the football fan. If the latter bubbles over from the stands towards the pitch then I'll agree with you particularly this season.

Same S... different week.

I'll repeat again, in the heat of the moment i've frustratedly called virtually every member of them 'useless' during a game if they pick the wrong pass etc. On a forum with no match thread this usually means we get new forum topics rather than a rant which quickly gets lost and people move on.

The way the forum is set up lends itself to hot takes and then replies to the hot takes afterwards.

Not overly positive, I've stated facts. Literally.

I don't think the equaliser was particularly lucky either, other than the timing of it. A header from Hirst tipped over, which could've been a goal quite easily, leads to a corner that Morsy hits well... slight deflection but was on its way anyway.

Some of us are just a bit more glass half full than others.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Because people need to learn a game is 90+ minutes, we won't have everything our way, and they're grown adults, not kids wanting sweets?
