Leif's interview on Saturday 13:51 - Oct 28 with 4019 views | sjg | Am I the only one that caught the sly dig in Leif's interview on MOTD? Something along the lines of 'if you can't concentrate in training how can you be expected to for 90 minutes on a Saturday' Seems some of the players aren't applying themselves in the way that we have taken for granted over the last couple of seasons

'Switch off for one second of the game and the balls in the back of your net and it's a goal. We've just got to stay focused and work hard in training every day - if you don't concentrate on the pitch during the week then it's not going to be falling into place for you on a Saturday'

"Switch off one second of the game and the ball's in the back of your net and it's a goal. I think we've just got to stay focused and work hard every day in training as well, which takes it onto the pitch on a Saturday. If you don't concentrate on the pitch during the week, then it's not going to be falling into place for you on a Saturday." Certainly an interesting choice of comment, which perhaps suggests that he thinks that certain players might not be pulling their weight during the week. I can't for one second, though, imagine that KMc and Pert would be standing for any shenanigans or lack of application in training sessions.

All he's saying is that training well is the bare minimum for even having a chance of a result. As we all know. Nothing to see here.

I bet it's Muric. It seems to be flavour of the month to get on Muric's back.

It'd be interesting to have heard the question that led to the response. Was it at all related to Brentford's fourth (as the overlaid video hints at), or was it a more general 'thoughts, Leif?' kind of question?

I don’t see why anyone would use that forum to dig out team-mates - completely unconstructive and out of character I would think. The bit I linked with that comment was when Walcott said “he said in his interview that you can’t switch off, yet there he is, switching off and letting his player go for a tap in” when he was talking about the penalty. I suspect that is very unfair. But given that the sum of TW’s analysis was “ Brentford have three people on this side, and three people on the other side who link together” I didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about it.

That’s it. Didn’t see it as a dig at all when I heard it, just a usual comment. Think you’re over analysing things.

I don't read it that way. I think he's merely stating the obvious. Train like you are going to play - a KM mantra from the outset if memory serves. No more to it than that IMHO.

It was a dig at the refs. We all know they are sitting around thumbing each others bums instead of training during the week. "O Michael, what a great call on VAR this week, helped me out as I didn't have a clue what was happening" "Thanks Dave, let me give you a thumbie because we both did a great job, lots of publicity for us" Full time referee is such a doss job.

No, I'm sure that the guy who just signed a new contract this week has decided that there is something rotten at ITFC and thinks that the club is falling apart in the face of adversity. We all knew this season would be tough, I wasn't prepared for how difficult we have found it to put points on the board or how painful/boring it would be to be in the Premier League, but KM was very clear in his assessment of what a step up it would be. We must remember that we were struggling in almost every match last season, but most often coming away with a result. This season the step up is just so much. We would probably be winning every match in the Championship.
