Striker In January ... but who?! 14:55 - Nov 25 with 6392 viewsBellevue_Blue

It's obvious Ali needs game time and equally we need someone to offer us more off the bench in Jan even if Hirst is fit, but who?!

- Latte-Lath - Do we have the money/ would he want to leave Boro?
- Lyle Foster - Injured again and just 1G/A this season for Burnley
- Elijah Adebayo - Terrible start to this season but fits do it all CF mould
- Evan Ferguson - Will he be available on loan? Started just one league game and has otherwise been limited to 5/10 minutes off the bench
- Marc Guhi - Limited to just one appearance in the league but would he fit club culture?

Interesting to see Broja still yet to make an appearance for Everton so that decision is certainly vindicated!

Would imagine it's Ferguson or some Chelsea player who isn't needed. Can't see Boro letting Latte-Lath go in January, given his form and their position. Could change of course but I imagine we'll be back for him next summer.

I reckon it’s time to explore the overseas market. If we could pick up a striker currently warming the bench for a top-flight club in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe or South America that would be a good deal for both parties.

Don’t shoot me for saying it but a Pukki-like player.

I can't see us having a chance of getting Ferguson.

The reports from the south coast have suggested that Brighton want to send him out in order to get a good amount of game time, whilst he would most likely be coming here to relieve Delap at about the 60/70 minute mark.

Given how displeased Brighton were last season at how Sarmiento was used in the same way, I can't see that they'd trust us with another of their players for whom the intention of a loan would be to get them serious game time.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Agree re Ferguson. They'll surely want him getting a lot more minutes than we would be offering

Were Brighton actually displeased with how we used Sarmiento? I've not seen it anywhere other than rumoured on here?

Maybe they should use him themselves then. If he can't get 90 minutes for us, where are they expecting him to get it unless he drops the division below and I don't think that's going to be too good a move for him.

I've seen people say that Brighton weren't happy but has that actually been reported anywhere? In 22 starts he averaged 34 minutes per game which is a good amount of development time.

Regardless of how good he is, Delap is not going to start every game even if fit. There are opportunities eg Hirst @ Brentford for other players to start games.

Brighton will make that decision entirely on Footballing fit I would have thought.

Were they displeased with Sarmiento loan?? Yes he could have started a few more but he played a part in every single match for a team which finished with 96 points. I would have thought they would have been delighted with the deal.

For context he's started just three of Burnley's sixteen games this year ...

Maybe if he goes to Boro on loan that might help us get Latte Lath?

Boro are flying right now though, wouldn't surprise me if its a firm no on him given they've got a decent chance of going up.

Back in for Fotis, who looked like our first choice in the summer; numbers aren't great at club level this season, which may make it an easier signing this time around (still scoring regularly for Greece though)

He really would be class but you never see those types of deals go through in January ...

So much of the way he plays is Delap/ Hirst esque

I just can't see why they would do it for a few reasons ...

Already got three CF's (that's not counting Diaz & Armstrong) all of which have been purchased in the last 2 years for 10M+.

Does the Football they play benefit the development of a Striker like him? They have eight goals all season with just 1 being scored by one of those central strikers.

How about Borja Sainz from the mob up the road? Top of the goalscoring charts and has done that playing for that shower.

He clearly knows where the goal is, would probably welcome the step up, wouldn’t cost much (not sure how much they know about money over the border) and it would really annoy our yellow friends.

I’ll get my coat.

In League one Louie Barry age 21 at Stockport has scored a lot of goals as has Poku for P’Boro, age 23

If he really is available on loan I would be surprised if we weren’t very keen, ticks all the boxes. I wouldn’t be surprised if Latte Lath was back on, he was very keen on the move and upset it didn’t happen.

I could see us going for somebody like Haji Wright at Coventry, got a consistent scoring record over the last few years and his stature appears to suit the way we play.

Not really saying that Brighton were displeased though. Just that he didn't start many games but was still important. Unless I'm missing something?
