The United stadium plan just drives home that all the good things about the game have been pushed out for nonsense

Enormo done leisure destination arenas are here. Football like going to Westfield shopping centre - just a leisure pursuit but nothing more. It

Why do we need a pyrotechnics show before kick off, exactly?

Not being funny but that is a disaster waiting to happen right there.

Why do competitions need to have anthems - Prem League, Champs League etc

I don’t understand why the prospect of better facilities for fans at a football stadium stir up so much negative feelings. New stadiums are expensive and need to utilise as much revenue as possible be it where fans eat or commercial superstores.

What’s even funnier is lower down on this board Bournemouth are being hammered for NOT building a bigger and better stadium. Now MUFC are wrong for doing exactly that.

On the flip side I like old stadiums, but many Town fans moaned about the Crystal Palace ground on Saturday because it's old fashioned.

Because capitalism has eaten everything in this country and that includes football. A new stadium with good facilities could be good. But these aren't really that; they're just designed to maximise profit and with no care about the soul of the club.

Personally, love Palace.

I’d take that over Arsenal, spurs etc anyday.

I’d take Cambridge or Fleetwood over those grounds too if I’m totally honest.

Yeah I found the moaning strange. It's a proper old ground!

I don't understand why people think a sanitised Westfield experience with a cinema seat and Madri on tap and an overpriced gourmet burger is better.

People have no soul!

What don’t we want - soulless bowls (apart from the old Wembley which was a bowl and miles away from the pitch but that’s ok because it’s been around for a long time and able to generate memories. And so isn’t a soulless bowl.

And Palace and Bournemouth should be made to upgrade their stadiums because they are dumps. But not like that because something about proper grounds and the 1970s. Proper and all that and something about modern fans.

Yup, fans are odd - and often contrary.

Of course better stadia are good for fans and clubs. Our plans may not be so grandiose, but will ultimately results in a better stadium, with better facilities and a nicer surrounding. As far as I'm concerned, bring it on.

Yeah, not forgetting that the Glazers still own a large part of the club.

Plenty of media coverage today but the likelihood of that being built is more questionable.

There's nothing sadder than the Premier League anthem or the toy town UKIP logo that now represents its branding.

Stadiums don’t have a soul as they are, just buildings. What makes a soul of a football stadium is the atmosphere generated by the fans as well as the memories made over time.

Yes but you can't make atmosphere in a Westfield.

We won’t know until it’s built - not having a pop at you but it’s quite easy to be negative at something new simply because it goes against tradition. But like it or not, that’s what new stadium developments have to be like.

Even in the smaller setting of Portman Road, MA stated that any stadium development has to be for the benefit of the town as well as for the club. Football stadiums have to much more than a football stadium with a few burger vans outside of it.

No problem with the CL one, it's a prestigious competition and the anthem itself is quite cool I think. The PL one can get in the bin, though.

Selhurst is a dump. It also has character. You can keep the latter while improving upon the former, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Just look at Portman Road this summer. It's not hard, it just needs greedy owners to dip into their pockets.

For arguments sake, if someone said ‘upgrade PR’ or ‘spend the money on the team to be a club in the PL for 10/12/15 years’

What you picking?

I'd say upgrade PR. There's no guarantee of success when you go out and spend millions on players/wages. But if you continue to upgrade and build off the pitch, you're setting yourself up for long-term success. What Ashton/Gamechanger have done off the pitch will be completely transformative for us over the next 20 years.
