I was really confused when he said that. Just couldn’t see any logic at all and was questioning my eyes.
Edit. To be fair, I think he was saying that because the defender made an attempt to win the ball that it should only be yellow. Is the ‘double jeopardy’ thing still a thing? [Post edited 8 May 2025 21:13]

Personally think yellow and a pen. He is desperately battling to get back and hook a leg at the ball (which he touched). I think pen is the right call but he is clearly trying to play the ball and does get a foot to it but there is too much contact impeding Moore in the process.
You can argue the red but yellow would have been perfectly proportionate and not ruined a tie. The whole reason the brought in the 'genuine attempt to play the ball' to avoid the double punishment and ruining of games. (Understand your position is like other poster saying clear pull back but he's just battling to try and play the ball and pen is right call). | |
