If Hutchinson moves on, I'd go for Tom Fellows at West Brom 16:33 - Aug 3 with 2837 viewscbower

Always impressed me every time I've seen him. Direct attacking, ball carrier and a goal threat. Any thoughts Ladies and Gents?

Good player and from WBA so we should be able to sign him.

Probably won't able to get the Fellow over the line .

Not a terrible suggestion at all. I do wonder if we will look elsewhere though in this instance. Our strategy has been so fat sign players hat can play at the next level. Ben Doak is one that might be hard to do or a left field import perhaps.
Been a tough window purely because the approach has been to sign players of premier league quality. Sensible approach but some fans seem to forget we are not in that division this season.
Also worth noting that this time last season, if you took a peak a a Burnley forum whilst they lost a lot of their squad this was always going to be a tough summer.

What makes Doak a Premiership play been on Liverpools books. I do wonder if our recruitment team are any good last Yr we signed lots of players only 3 or 4 up to the task. With the parachute money we should be top two.

Not seen a lot of him, but from what I have seen he’s looked a good player and one that would add to our fragile midfield, so it’d be yes from me. Good age too. Could he play at a higher level? Don’t know.

The question is would he want to come here. He’s a Midlands lad and this is the far end of the universe.

A good suggestion.

Him or Doak seem the obvious targets. I wonder whether we’re looking at Iling-Junior from Villa, can play across the front line, but recently been playing left back for England U21’s, so good cover after Townsend’s injury.

A bit like how we should be able to sign a player from Boro?

Be nice to have a like for like replacement though. Right sided but can come in on stronger left foot.

We already have Burns and Ogbene, with Clarke now picking up that role too.

Have you watched much of Doak personally? If the answer is yes I suspect you might have a different perspective. Would be perfect for a McKenna type coach to develop imo. Has all the attributes to be a top player. Would imagine he’s certainly someone we have looked at. Suspect we would have competition if he is someone we go for in replacement for OH.

Liked him a lot too when I saw a fair amount of West Brom in 23/24. Doesn't seem to have had his shooting boots on last year but was a strength previously. Main fear from a medium-term perspective would be physicality. He was very svelte when I last watched.

That's a cheap shot but is also indicative of our approach. We won't land all our targets. Even though we may still sign Hackney.

Well we’ve wanted him previously.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

I don't think we need a replacement, we've got Philogene, Clarke, Szmodics, Chaplin, Broadhead, Burns, and Ogbene, that's 7 players for 3 positions. And Ben Johnson can play high up the pitch.

Hmmm have to disagree…

Broad - likely to go and the 7m would be good value especially for profit rules
Philogene - probably going to be our a fair while
Johnson - can’t rally afford round pegs in square holes if we want top two
Burns - doesn’t seem to be anywhere near a return

Fellows is great and was the one I wanted us to go for in January. He's not a Hutchinson replacement though, he's a right-footer who likes to get to the byline and deliver crosses in, rather someone who a player who likes to cut inside.

You'd also have the same issue we had with Hackney; convincing a young player to leave his boyhood club to join us when there's a chance of PL interest.

it was a lighthearted gag that we seem to be able to only sign WBA players without much issue.

I thought the same - and watched his highlight reels earlier. Then for comparison, I watched Omari's highlight reel.
Fellows is a good player no doubt, very effective in the Championship. But just don't expect that he will be on the same level as Omari. I'm just stunned at how quick Omari's feet are - I literally have never seen anyone else with feet as quick - it is like watching on 2 x speed. No doubt at all, Omari is a PL player, and if we had him in the Championship it would be unfair on everyone else. But we have to cut our cloth, when you are in the Championship it is very very hard to retain or attract PL quality.

Poll: would you rather

Was the Dhabo link debunked? His highlight reel looked a nice fit for an Omari replacement.

Think he’s more a long term replacement for Wes. Similar skill sets
