McKenna protecting Omari 13:20 - Aug 15 with 1145 viewsBlooos

The ‘throat infection’ on Friday.. obviously a blatant lie just to protect Omari from dogs abuse, but why? Is a real shame the way it’s ended after we’ve essentially given him his first proper chance in football.

Because he's a professional and throwing him to the wolves would achieve absolutely nothing? It was a bit different midweek as it was obvious he would be going and wouldn't change his mind.

Truly impaired.

I think KM handled it about right.

He 'protected' him a on Friday, but outed him on Tuesday.

I don't agree with Hutch missing games, but KM has a fine balance to tread in terms of how he handles it.

Edit - I appreciate line two might result in some Craig David parody responses!!

TBH he probably would have got less abuse had KM said he's held talks with a club and we're awaiting formal signing of the deal so won't be involved anymore. Rather than he trained yesturday but has a sore throat today.

I didnt actually feel KM protected him well at all actually when you think how else it could have been handled.

a niche perspective

He must have retained some hope of reintegrating Omari at that point.

Managers telling white lies is common, even when not prompted by self-interest. Brandon Williams is a good KM example, which would have benefitted all parties at the time.

Probably worth moving on, he’s gone, throwing players under the bus when you’re trying to sign young talent for big money yourself, isn’t the most sensible PR move I would suggest.

Actually thought he was more honest than he might have been at times.

Football is different now, turn the page.

pretty much as soon hope was extinguished, from McK's perspective, it was like, why should I bother lying for him any more, it's making me look stupid.

Um, didn't he specifically reference the throat thing and say it was genuine? Why do we need to call our excellent manager a liar?

How benevolent of us! He definitely wouldn't have had an opportunity at 5 other championship clubs

I’m not sure I read either article as him throwing anyone under the bus or protecting anyone, just describing two different scenarios.

1) a player he has a great relationship with but implied poor advice from others, agent likely, has caused Omari to make some questionable decisions like refusing to play. Don’t think he was digging Omari that badly, more agent, and how this rubbish is common place these days.

2) Broadhead had been consistent all summer with his desire to go to Wrexham, which he understands the reasons why, but ultimately wishes he’d stayed.

I think the reader applies the emotion. KM was just stating situation as he sees it.

In my opinion.

KM was fine imo. There’s no reason why he shouldn’t say that Hutch refused to play. There’s no need to protect anyone in that scenario, neither Hutchinson nor the fans who should be mature enough to deal with it. And maybe Kieran wasn’t prepared to lie to us.? Maybe he values his integrity. Who knows.

He confirmed the throat infection was genuine, so I don’t see why there’s any reason not to believe him either.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

He has explicitly said it was genuine. He didn't have to do so.

Assuming that someone with demonstrated decency and integrity is lying, is obnoxious and libellous.

Does that include Tuenzebe who was out for the best part of 1/3 of a season after cutting his thumb while washing up. My son had a heart & lung transplant & wasn't off work much longer
