Town Topic: Who Should Replace Keane?
Town Topic: Who Should Replace Keane?

With Roy Keane sacked 20 months into his Portman Road tenure, who would you like to replace him?

Paul Jewell is the early front-runner, Chris Hughton, Gary Megson and Alan Curbishley have all been linked, but who do you want?

Hughton, Jewell, Poyet, or Wilkins any of these would be quality

Don't like the idea of Curbishley or Allardyce - preferable to Megson, but that's about it. Warmig to the idea of Jewell, but would prefer Poyet & Taricco - up and coming partnership that have got a reputation for good football and would know where to go for lower league bargains.

But whoever I it is, I'll put any misgivings aside and support them and the team 100%.

One question while I'm here - what's this obsession with Matt Holland as our saviour? Won't happen! He has publically and privately said that he has no interest in managing or coaching anyone. He's not shown the slightest interest in getting his coaching badges. He's being groomed by the BBC to be a new Gary Lineker - which is the role he's wanted for years. Why would he suddenly change his mind now? Seriously, we have more chance of getting Wenger and Mourinho as joint manager than seeing Matt Holland back here as a coach.

There's no magic wand, but give any 'decent' manager £10m in this league and they'll get you promoted.

Just get the right manager, that's the key. Ipswich are no longer a club that has to take a chance on up and coming managers. If we can afford Keano we can afford most experienced managers with a successful track record.

I think Clegg and Evans realise they made a mistake with Keane so they'll be going for a safer bet this time although Evans' will probably still want someone either controversial (for the publicity) or massive (for the publicity).

Wilkins is my bet. Clegg was on Chelsea's advisory board before coming to us so he'll know all about Butch.

i have no idea why people like curbs - i HATE him for his *brilliant* poaching of our best players when our club was in crisis. this may be an overly emotional response but give him a club in which he can't nick a load of good players on the cheap (west ham, say, or town) and i don't see him achieving much - past or future. plus i hate his weasly face. wilkins has always been a big fan of the ipswich style - remember that/ - and blah blah blah but doesn't big fat joe look an excellent manager in retrospect?

Would like O'Driscoll but i think that the journo's would have got a sniff of it if we were after someone still in a job so that includes Poyet too.

As for Jewell, probably wouldnt be so bad and he has got a pretty good record. At one time we would have bitten his hand off to come here but the Derby thing has tainted him. Having said that we could have had Holloway at one time but we didnt as everyone was concerned about him taking Leicester down. Lets face it virtually every manager has a blot on their CV at some point.

At the end of the day i just want to see some proper football and would urge everyone to get behind the new manager whoever it may be. Having said that if they give Megson the job it really will show how utterly clueless ME and Clegg are.

well reading this thread it just proves the line 'anyone but keane' there is no consensus, lots of names from the late 90's and early 00's, several with previous links to ITFC, several been out of work for years, and best of all some we haven't a cat in hell's chance of attracting - be careful what you wish for (in my case Glen Hoddle, yes another in the not a chance group!)

Eddie Howe would be brilliant, possibly with Matt Holland/Terry Butcher as Assistant.

I've got more chance of going to the moon then Big Sam, Martin O'Neil or Martin Jol coming.

Why would Sean O'Driscoll come if he rejected Shef Utd?

I don't want an ex Manager, would be taking 1 step forward but 2 steps back. Also no Steve Cotterill, Gary Megson or Gareth Southgate.

Would be happy with Jewell, Curbishley or Hughton as well.

Why is Megson in the picture? rubbish
why is Jewel in the picture? because he is cheap perhaps
Come on employ a decent manager who can get Town playing good football again.
There must be one out there who wants to take over a good club like the Ipswich.

Why not Bobble, what he doesn't know about anything, isn't worth knowing.

Good Luck Roy.
