Priskin's Swansea Move Confirmed Thursday, 24th Mar 2011 18:13
Swansea have confirmed that Town striker Tamás Priskin has joined them on loan until the end of the season. The Hungarian’s former Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has been targeting the 24-year-old since he took over at the Liberty Stadium in the summer.
Rodgers said: "I looked to bring him in at the start of the season, but it's only now that he's become available.
"I worked with Tamás at Watford where he was outstanding for me and at 6ft 2in he can offer us another threat and balance for the remaining games.
"He is a player who can add goals to our squad and ensure we have enough cover for the final eight games of the season.''
The move could well be made permanent in the summer with the Hungarian having a year remaining on his Town deal.
Priskin's exit means that Town go into the final games of the season short on strikers with Connor Wickham and Jason Scotland the only recognised frontmen currently at the club. However, the Blues have a 24-hour recall on Ronan Murray once he completes the first month of his loan at Torquay early in April.
The Hungarian, who is currently away on international duty, will not be available for next month's game between the Blues and the Swans.
There will be no further moves in or out of Portman Road today with the 5pm deadline having passed.

Don't worry what jas0999 says - hes still missing Keane. Personally, I expect an exciting close season where we see a squad get built. Looking forward to it.

I am excited about the ressies pushing some of our 'established players' - Hyam , Murray , Clark , Civelli should be pushing for starts next year . I have faith in Jewell - and getting shot of the lazy Priskin was a good start - get rid of fat boy Scotland and we can start the rebuild - Peters and Martin can play up front and lets be honest its not like we have let a 15 goal as season player go ( let alone a 25-30 - if they still exist!!) clean house jewell .. nice one - roll on pre season in HOLLAND ....Cannot wait

we dont need him...lets get on with it!

I just hope PJ knows what he is doing........We play the Scum very soon with a 17 year old Wickham and an overweight, slow Scotland up front. With Naarwich recent loans and the strikforce they already have in place, i can see them turning us over yet again! I can't wait for this poor, boring, dull season to end!

I'm sad about this. Priskin is our most talented striker along with whickham, priskin just suffers from confidence and I dont blame him when there's a few thousands fans at portman road booing him everytime he makes a small mistake. You lot are unfair to him, he's actually really good on the ball and has a great finish. I hope he scores some goals at swansea

Ho hum... I'd be the happiest guy alive if news of this kind gave me ANY level of interest or concern... I am well used to my beloved football club doing inexplicable things - sigh.... I guess I am going to have to return to my consolation phrase of the past four decades: "Well, there's always next season..."

Just maybe jewell sending him to gain confidence again away from our ruthless fans?

dont know what people are worrying for,if Scotland or Wickham get injured Priskin i as much use as a chocholate tea pot ,he is hardly going to get a hat full of goals and make a difference ,just as well to play one of the kids, let them have a chance to prove themselves,we may be pleasantly surprised.

the changing man- in the last four decades we've won leagues, the FA Cup, Uefa Cup and seen some brilliant footabll and exciting promotion campaigns. Your a tool.

We only bought Priskin at the end of the tranfer window because Keane and Clegg wated the whole summer looking for Mr Right. He won't be a big loss. However, once we sell Wickham to fund our rebuild, we'll have Scotland left. Let's hope we can actually get some achievable targets and get Clegg and Evans to sign them up pronto. Otherwise we won't have a 25 a season golsacorer or any strikers at all.

bluelady - that's a fair post. As for WashbrookBlue and Callmeted, I would remind you, we ALL pays our money - and takes our choice. And supporters like you, who hurl abuse to anyone who has a different opinion to you, do nothing to encourage people to this club. So maybe you should stay at home as well - for a different reason.
WashbrookBlue added 18:53 - Mar 25
...except you won't be paying your money h32 by your own admission. I think it went something like...."but let the 'silly billies' renew their season tickets - I won't be one of them at this rate". So,we'll be missing out on your little rays of sunshine. Ho hum, we'll all get over it somehow.
h32 added 19:09 - Mar 25
WashbrookBlue - I'm sure you will - and I won't miss the abuse from some of you either. Like I said, we are all entitled to an opinion without receiving abuse - that shouldn't be too much to expect from decent people. But it appears it is. Shame.

H32 i doubt you go to any games at all as you are always first commenting when we havent won normally about 4.45 !! And when you do comment it is to criticise or abuse the manager ,standard of players etc but then get upset when someone dares to speak out against you ? If you do have a season ticket as you say and wont be renewing or paying to go to games the only thing you are hurting is the club which apparently you say you support ? Jewell has come in and taken over a low in confidence side with a lot of poor signings by Keane and is starting to rebuild and has a 40 percent win ratio already ,give the man time and try supporting the club

Surco - yet another TOTALLY unfounded, and incorrect statement - but that's the norm anyway.

I'm with H32 on this. His opinion is quite valid. Blind faith is one thing. Reasoned evaluation of the return on such faith is another. There are millions of people around the world with an affiliation of sorts to ITFC. They may not, for various reasons, attend every game but they still have the best interests of the club at heart. Their opinions vis-a-vis the policies and practices of the club are as valid as the next fan; or are we establishing a divide (almost alike to apartheid) where an opinion is only valid if you actually see a game AND agree with the majority. Good luck H32, if you do not renew and come and see the games, I'm sure you will still be with us.

So why do we need lots of strikers? It's not as if they've contributed the bulk of Town's goal total. So far in the League this season: Defenders - 18% Midfielders - 52% Strikers - 30% Wickham has scored all his goals this season since he's been playing on the wing. Plus two of the 15 strikers' goals this season were scored by players who've permanently left the club - Stead and Fallon. Hopefully Priskin will either come back with renewed confidence, or be sold and we can put the money towards new strikers. As for who we're left with, Scotland is actually our top-scoring striker (nine in the League to Priskin's four) and most of Town's goals come from the midfield anyway.
Blue041273 added 10:06 - Mar 27
Hey Guthram This is not a situation with which we should derive any satisfaction. Strikers are selected to score goals. There is clearly something wrong with the structure when our strikeforce get only 30% of our goals. If we rely on the midfield to get our goals we are NOT going to progress.
h32 added 19:37 - Mar 27
Blue041273 - thanks for your post, always good to liaise, and share views, with fair minded people. You are right, I will always be an ITFC follower - but in doing so 'I will always say it as I see it ' and what can be wrong with that.
StochesStotasBlewe added 19:55 - Mar 27
h32. i will miss your match reports as if you suggest wont be renewing your season ticket. I rarely agree with your views on here, & have been critical of you on many occasions, but however, it would be a very dull world if we all agreed on everything. Hope you have a change of heart & renew old chap, because we need the fan base & the differing views shared on here keep the website stimulating.
Guthrum added 03:05 - Mar 28
Blue041273 - indeed. Effective strikers desperately needed. But as they're not all that effective, I don't mind losing them, especially now we're almost certainly 'safe'.
