Jewell Still Has Backing of Bosses
Sunday, 21st Oct 2012 15:02

Town boss Paul Jewell continues to have the backing of owner Marcus Evans and chief executive Simon Clegg, TWTD understands. The Blues manager, who said he would discuss his future with Evans after yesterday’s game at Hull City, is expected at his pre-match press conference tomorrow lunchtime ahead of Tuesday’s match against his former club Derby County at Portman Road.

Jewell, who was at Playford Road this morning to watch the 1-0 U21s victory over QPR, yesterday said he would consider his position with the Blues without a win in 10 games and in 23rd in the table.

"We have to look at the bigger picture for Ipswich and think ‘Am I the man to take them forward?’, he said.

"And if I decide when I speak to Marcus and one or two other people who are close to me that the best thing for Ipswich is not to be here, then I’ll do that.

“I don’t want to do that, I’ve got to be honest and I hope the answers I come up with are positive answers but I’ve got to be honest with myself and honest with Marcus and honest with people close to me.”

The answers he has received from those in charge at the club appear to have been those that he was looking for.

If he has doubt in himself then he shouldn't be manager of any football team. Marcus should see this.

"We have to look at the bigger picture for Ipswich and think ‘Am I the man to take them forward?'

questioning your own ability, how do you expect the players to listen to your decisions now, just go please.

Are we the only club to have owners as annoying as this? How can you still back the man after all this time, while us fans know straight away what should happen. I knew he wouldn't resign though, why should he? My weekend just got a lot more worse...

Evans. Get your head out of your backside & smell the coffee. I,m now wondering what your intentions are for our club.

This is what I fully expected as I posted elsewhere and I believe he has two games to save his job one way or the other.

what a farce any sane individual can see this man is tactically naive and has cracked, his daft recruitment of these loan players illustrates the need for a fresh start...

Evans is just as big a problem as Jewell. Absolutely clueless.

What on earth is happening to our club?

Up to now I have supported PJ and felt he should see the job through.
However,he seems to have lost faith in his own ability to do the job and, regretfully,
therefore, his position becomes untenable and he should resign.

When he quit as Derby manager they had just lost 1-0 to Ipswich...we might see a mirror image on Tuesday...just saying...

Will make my feelings very well known on Tuesday that the idiot should be sacked.

For crying out loud. Just GO! What a complete and utter shambles. I hate the way we are being run..I'm starting to dislike my own club. It's clear he cannot motivate this team, cannot lift them, cannot use the right tactics, cannot make them defend better. A complete mess. And apparently he's still the right man? ME and SC...you will have a hell of a lot to answer for if we go down. I'm no longer proud of the team I've supported for 25+ years. It's a relationship that's on the rocks.
PJ just please go. It seems like its all falling on deaf ears now though. What right have we got to complain? We are only the poor people who shell out a fortune to watch a load of crap.
Do you care ME or SC? I'm beginning to doubt you do.

Evans is a buisiness man, he isn't a football man and never will be. Ipswich is not in his heart, people may disagree but it isn't, this is a hobbie for Marcus. Jewell is being a sycophant because of this, he knows that if he is nice to Evans and continues to play golf and talk to him every game that there will be a a friendship and connection between the two and so Evans will find it more and more difficult to sack him. I couldn't have seen this between Evans and Keane hence why Keane probably got the boot. Jewell doesn't have a connection with Ipswich neither and for him this is a great job to have and so he wont let it go for his own sake no matter how much he talks about what is right for the club. Burley was sacked and I'm sure there was a very peofessional discussion before this happened in a true footballing way which George took respectfully.

Even he, himself is questioning his own ability, yet ME is still backing him. Unbelievable.

How does ME think PJ will motivate the players with that attitude. League 1 here we come if he continues in charge.

cant believe clegg and evans are happy with things, they aint got a clue...all season ticket holders should boycott tuesdays game if jewell is still there...then when 3000 turn up they might start thinking harder!!

Deep down, PJ, you know things are just not working out. For some reason, the chemistry between you and the club is just not right; from the players you brought in, on the deals that they were brought on right on the tactics being deployed. Let's accept you and Ipswich Town FC are not meant to be.

So do the honourable thing PJ...let someone else have a decent go - give enough time for the new chap to turn things around.

...you don't need no Marcus Evans to tell you otherwise...poodle up to him you should not be...
