West Ham Cresswell Bid Claim
Sunday, 11th May 2014 15:01

West Ham are mentioned in connection with Town left-back Aaron Cresswell by a couple of this morning’s tabloids.

The Sun on Sunday claims that the Hammers are set to offer the Blues £1.5 million for the 24-year-old, while the Sunday People reports manager Sam Allardyce’s “long-term admirer" of the Liverpudlian. TWTD reported that a West Ham scout was keeping tabs on Cresswell back in August.

Town boss Mick McCarthy said earlier this month that he wouldn’t stand in Cresswell’s way if the right offer from a Premier League club came in this summer.

However, a bid of £1.5 million is likely to fall well short of the Blues’ valuation, with Cresswell’s former club Tranmere entitled to 20 per cent of the profit Town make on the tribunal-set compensation of £420,000 they paid for him following his move to Portman Road in the summer of 2011.

Southampton are understood to view Cresswell, who is contracted until the summer of 2017, as a potential replacement for Luke Shaw it he is sold during the close season, while Newcastle and West Brom were also regular visitors to Portman Road during the final weeks of the season.

Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Cardiff, Hull City and Everton have also all been linked at one time or another, while Aston Villa made an enquiry in the summer of 2012.

The bidding has begun. We will hear a lot of this over the next few weeks. But £1.5 million! Really! This is a joke bid isn't it?! £4 million minimum.

1.5 million is an absoloute insult and is laughable, if true they should be told no and for such a derisory offer not entertain any further bids. If man city beat wet sham today then its likely the fat hoof ball merchant will be sacked anyway. Football dinosaur

It's like buying house ir a car innit. You start by offering a rock bottom offer to test the water.

Well hopefully that derisory offer has tested the water and is turned down straight away, bearing in mind he valued at 4 mil!!! Wasters

There can be little doubt that Cresswell will leave in the summer the main questions are when and how much. £1.5M is nowhere near enough.

£1.5m?! I know this is just gutter press speculation but we'd have to ask at least £4-5m for Cressy. When you think what a certain club paid for a bloke that scored ONCE all season, what should we be asking for the best Left-back outside the Prem? The club must not sell on the cheap.

The thing is, there is absolutely no pressure whatsoever for ITFC to sell. If he doesn't go this summer there are FIVE further transfer windows in which he could be sold. If he plays all next season he WILL be worth more than he is at the moment. If it were me, I would spend now the guaranteed £4m fee that he will realise and then look to sell him if we need to in a year or two.

So Man Utd make a £27m bid for Southampton left back Luke Shaw, so now we wait for the £4m bid from Southampton for Cressy?!?!?

I think £1.5million from Palace plus Williams

Cresswell to West Ham is a done deal with Hendo coming in the opposite direction. It's now the "small matter" of players agreeing personal terms and then calculating the residual balance.

Plus wouldnt want henderson here anyway, he wasn't heads and shoulders above loach when he was here on loan anyway. Thats been the problem in the goalkeeping department there's not been a stand out number 1 for years. Cressy has gotta be between 4-6 million to start with

Considering Big Sam has a rep for paying his cronies buckets of cash, this is a joke.

Feck off you old git.
