Blues Among Clubs Linked With Marshall
Tuesday, 13th Dec 2016 13:02

Town are one of a number of Championship clubs reportedly showing interest in Blackburn winger Ben Marshall.

According to some reports, Wolves, who are managed by Marshall’s former Rovers boss Paul Lambert, are keen on the former Leicester man and could make a move in January, while stories elsewhere claim the former England U21 international will look at his options when his contract is up at the end of the campaign having held talks with Rovers regarding a new deal.

Brighton remain interested having had bids turned down for the 25-year-old last season and the Blues and Fulham are said to have made enquiries.

Marshall's wage demands are claimed to be £25,000 a week in one report which if true would rule Town out of the running.

The Salford-born wideman or right-back was with Manchester United and Crewe as a youth player before moving on to Stoke, Northampton (loan), Cheltenham (loan), Carlisle (loan), Sheffield Wednesday (loan) and then the Foxes before joining Blackburn in 2013.

Not linked with yet another bl**dy winger, whats the point, we've had loads, there asked to tuck in, defend and then we never see them again after they are distroyed by MM tactics!

I really like Ben Marshall and he's always looked excellent when I've seen him play. He's a top quality player at this level so will demand a wage way beyond our structure.

There was a time when we'd be in the market for this kind of player. The changes are about the game, rather than us so I won't be too disappointed when he goes to Brighton or Wolves.

Ben Marshall is a player with bags of potential, sadly if this is true I can see him switching to Wolves (closer to home amongst other reasons)

If it involves a bidding war we won't get him

Might be a typo there. £25k a year would rule us out.

We need a winger though. After Ward and Lawrence we only have Sears who as we all know isn't a winger. Ward is inconsistent and were struggling to score so a winger would definitely help. Winger, Striker and cm although I doubt we'd get them all.

Good player, scores and creates.
Blackburn's best player
Won't happen

I think Ward becomes a much better player if he has a footballing right back behind him.

If we can't compete with the wage demands of the better players in this division then in order to compensate we really need to have a good scouting system which takes in the lower leagues from Greece, the Nordic countries as well as Eastern Europe.

As the club runs to a strict wage structure then the club must be a bit more intelligent in how it spends its money. Loan players who don't play are a waste of money, having also-ran players like Coke and Best in the U23 is a waste of money. I know that they probably aren't on a lot but it all adds up. Play the youngsters with a few top quality players around them.

But what do I know? I don't think the championship should be some kind of hoof fest and I don't think wanting to play with style should mean that we're relegation fodder or that we should always play with static defensive midfielders.

Good set piece taker and versatile, we could do far worse

How the hell is he on £25k a week though?

We need a dominating central midfield player to break up play win the ball and drive us forward neither Skuse or Douglas stats prove that they are capable of this .
I don't want MM spending anymore money

Our squad is plenty good enough.. It's that muppet who trains them.. imposes his tactics and style of play on them and ultimately us that's the problem..
I don't rate his football.. never have.. never will.

£25k a week hahahaha. Evans wouldn't pay £25k a week for Messi!

No chance.

We need goals from somewhere, and with the Poundland budget Evans has given us that ain't gonna happen.

When I saw the headline to this article I thought he was looking at Ian Marshall. Just what we need. A proven striker with loads of experience. A proper bloke and still not too old for a McCarthy team

Hmmm enlighten me please: How many of these here jaw-droppingly awesome 'SOUNDING' but ohhh at the same time also nearly all fairly deep down UTOPIAN"Town are one of a number of Championship clubs reportedly showing interest in xxxxxxx" (please fil out the blanks with names yourselves! :-) LOL) just within say the last 16 months??? LOL

(Most recently the talented offensive-minded Daryl Horgan eventually ALSO winded up choosing some much more "greener", and not the least positive from a football pov!, pastures than our nowadays rather dross-like and sad ones here!)

just forget it - why do we have such rubbish on here ?.

Unless they are desperate for a Club, have no flair or creativity, or 30 something plus - McCarthy would be wasting their time by bringing them here - and achieve nothing other than add to the payroll.

And who would want to come anyway ? - other than if they were looking for a meal ticket they couldn't get elsewhere.

Won't suit some - but it's true.
