Bialkowski Reveals January Interest
Thursday, 9th Mar 2017 11:39

Town keeper Bartosz Bialkowski has revealed that a number of clubs made enquiries for him during the January transfer window, although there were no firm bids.

The 29-year-old, who is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2018 with the club having an option for a further season, was Town’s Player of the Year last season and has continued his impressive form during this campaign.

"There weren't any concrete offers in January but there were quite a few enquiries,” the Pole told Onet.pl.

“The transfer would have never happened anyway as my bosses were pretty clear about it: you're not for sale. We'll see what the future holds but I'm not stressing over it.

“I feel very good in Ipswich but I've also got my personal goals. I still dream about Premier League.”

Top flight clubs are understood to have been keeping tabs on the former Southampton and Notts County man and other Championship sides are also likely to be keen, while Bialkowski was interesting Chinese clubs in January 2016.

You aint going anywhere Bart. Unless Man City offer £50 million for ya, we might then think about it.

To be fair what can we offer him?

Money.... No
Ambition....No
Premier league....No
Big crowds....No

Any interest in our players is going to be tough to fight off as there is currently nothing appealing about this stagnant club at the minute.

He's got plenty of time to achieve his Premier League ambitions. Whether that be with us, is obviously less certain, but what is certain is that we can't afford to let him go if we do have similar ambitions as a club.

Noooooooooo!

Another one for the New Manager/ME in the summer to decide - please please please don't accept less than £20m for Bart - who has simply been our best player this season (& imo last season too) by a country mile!

Ahh, right got it now.

Transfer interest in the january transfer window, NOT being chatted up by Hollywood actress January Jones. My mistake.

If the money is right the club will sell him, this is the only way this club can survive

Bye bye Bart. Thanks for keeping us alive, but you need to move on and we need to get on with relegation.

Not surprised, probably the only player we own worth buying

By far the most outstanding player this season.Has saved us from many a defeat. This talk has been coming for a long time and I quite expect he will leave in the summer should a substantial offer come in for him.
Would be a terrible loss, but to be honest he deserves a lot better.

Marcus Evans will be rubbing his hands 5-6 million. Will mean another season he don't need put hand in pocket

The stark reality is Evans will be looking to cash in on another asset in the Summer. There are few left to sell anks to our reliance on loans and cheap wage free transfers. Bart will likely be off in the summer. There will then be the usual spin as to why the money wasn't reinvested in the playing squad. Club is badly run.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him go in the summer although he has said he is happy in Ipswich and his family are settled.

I have a feeling if ME gets offered enough he would accept it. I can see Bart realising that this team has to be much better to reach the Prem. He has to think of himself and his family and if the wages offered are good, he may go. (See also Daryl Murphy!).

We would miss our ' big Pole in the goal' and certainly won't be able to replace him for the money ME is prepared to spend.

If he leaves we WILL be in the bottom 3 next season and league one will follow

Who can blame him wanting to play at a higher level. No chance of that being at a dead-end club like Ipswich.

We'd be doomed without him, downward spiral

It's hard to know what price he'd go for if the club decides to sell him. He's been a one-man army for us this season.

Is it fair to hold back the guys career. Would love him to stay but if they are intent of running the club into the ground he deserves better

iaintaylorx added 13:16 - Mar 9
As much as I would love it if we kept him, I can't see it. He is more than good enough to be a regular in a good premier league team, he is outstanding! Sad thing is, that goalkeepers don't seem to cost anywhere near the bigger fees. ME is taking all the money from this club, not spending anything but wages, so he will probably be happy with anything around £4m which is disgusting!

I genuinely want to watch Bart on MOTD and see the pundits and nation raving about him, but I would obviously prefer that was with us!

We SERIOUSLY need to show some ambition to make these players want to stay!!!

I thought the article said we were not willing to sell him? How come everyone is saying that we are cashing in on him? I am all up for running the club down at the moment but should we not wait for actual real examples....... There are enough of them!

From his repeated comments about the keepers Mick rates Gerken as similar ability so would probably consider selling Bart if a good offer came in.

Imagine our league position now without Bart's saves! We would probably be bottom three and have lost 3-1 at Norwich.
3

poldark added 14:03 - Mar 9
That would be ok cos we have the fabulous Gerks waiting and McCarthys waiting to get him in the team .
Don't think ME would turn down offers

peewee added 14:05 - Mar 9
Bart has be the difference between relegation and mid table. Even a 5 year old can see that.
5

bbg added 14:49 - Mar 9
In view of the club finances and also in the player's interests being in his late twenties, will inevitably be sold if an offer of +4-5m comes in. Gerken deserves his opportunity, he has shown a great attitude. Although not of Bart's quality, there are far worse holding down first team positions in the Championshp.

Might not be the worst thing if we can then afford to loan a player of similar quality to Lawrence (no hope of buying such a player), as well as possibly permanently sign all or some of Huws, Taylor, Spence, Williams & Diagouraga and keep most of the rest.

What would then have gone almost unnoticed would be that we have a squad almost completely revamped from a few years ago and a far younger squad than most. Douglas is the only over 35, and will obviously move on during the summer. I hope both Berra & Chambers stay, both good quality experienced defenders.
