McCarthy: No Suggestion of Not Seeing Season Out
Wednesday, 14th Mar 2018 13:02

Town boss Mick McCarthy says he has no intention of leaving the club before the end of the season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk after last night’s 3-0 defeat to Hull City which took place in a fractious Portman Road atmosphere, he said: "I have no intention of doing anything other than seeing the season out.”

Asked again if he might move on before the end of the campaign, he added: "Not at all with nine games to play. I'm going to Bristol City on Saturday fired up as ever. There's no suggestion of that for me now."

McCarthy, who has been in charge of the Blues since November 2012, is out of contract in the summer but with owner Marcus Evans having an option to extend his terms for a further two seasons.

The Town boss is among a number of members of staff and players at the club's golf day at Ufford Park today.

Right or wrong the man is under contract that expires at the end of the season so he has every right to carry on,mob rule however close to the peoples hearts should never be allowed to win.
Although i was not their last night phone calls and texts ive had from friends tell me that it was very unpleasant.
So fellow fans let bite the bullet and see what happens at season close.

You may be fired up as ever Mick but the fans aren't. Next season will be attendances of 9000 or even under. Horrific looking shirts and more loan players and freebies replacing those we already have. Come August the team will have a new look as it does ever August but it will play the same dreary, defensive tactics.
The only thing that would fire the fans up now is you announcing that you ARE going.
For our owner this club is just another business and he seems unconcerned at what's happening to it. We need people with passion who really care about the club, the fans and the affect a good team has on the whole town. Ex players are also sounding so fed up now but only because they care so much.
The Ripping Yarn about Barnstoneworth United seems to almost fit our club now.

As usual our Ghost Chairmen hiding behind a closed door, will not come out and comment on the Toxic situation. Even his Puppet has nothing to say ????
I expect they are all up at Ufford Park with Dino saying what a nice day it is ???

Pointless MM staying till end of season will only make atmosphere worse now and drive more people away at risk of not returning . The longer the club take to state whether or not MM will be here next season shows the lack of bottle the invisible owner has

Just please leave
Mick would benefit from managing some other side where the fans miraculous liked him

And we would benefit from not having to pay to watch almost 8 hours of home football with 8 defensive players on the pitch without a singe goal
Just leave you Dino and let the new maganer have 9 games to get his team sorted for next season.

Just leave

I bet Mick will use a 1-wood on the green, he's not capable of keeping it down on the green stuff! And I bet BillyBaxter will be his caddie! We should employ some of the stewards from St Andrews to work for us and they can shot "Fore!" to warn all the fans down the sides of the stadium so none of them get a route one ball smashed into the side of their face! I was thinking the other day with our low crowds now why don't they just shut the entire top tier. But actually we'd be better to shut the entire lower tier as at least that way the last few remaining fans won't get stiff necks by the end of the match!

Mick should be good from the tee off, we all know he's good at playing the long ball.

I hope Waggy, Skuesy, Connolly, Webstery, Iorfary, Knudsy, et al aren't there.
3 games of football and having to walk around an 18 hole course will rule them out for the rest of the season with Goldy and no doubt Mustaphery too.

Whether you're pro or anti McCarthy, the situation is now beyond repair, so he should either resign now or our faceless owner should fire him. Anything else would be pointless. Who knows whether a new manager will be any better. The previous two managers certainly weren't, but at least it will give some hope of ending the tedious boredom of Portman Road, and probably sell a few more season tickets.

Unbelievable arrogance. Sees himself as more important than the club. If ever Evans needed to come out and say something it's now. But he won't because he doesn't give a toss.

What exactly is the deal/ contract that Mick has agreed with Marcus.

Are we going to have to put up with the unshaven homeless bum image that Mick is now sporting till the end of the season?

Is it over a bonus? Does he get a bit extra if we're top 12? Does he get a bit more for loyalty? What is hanging around for? When will he put the club first??

It is truly pathetic. The man has no self respect or shame.

MM, I say let him finish the season get behind the players
Show the support coz this negative carry on will mess anything positive that might still come out of this season. A lot of you need to grow up and support the club
Players sometimes need the Twelfth man
You lot are all butthurt, you won't force the issue on
This, if you call yourselves loyal, show it in a positive way

It's so sad that Mick hasn't been able to achieve more in his time at Ipswich. He's stubborn, single minded, demanding and fiercely loyal to the players he himself rates, and as such that's more often than not a pretty decent set qualities in football leadership positions, and certainly gets you a distance. He's been able to bring in some very good loan players from good clubs, cash in on young promise from lower leagues, but yes, also failed to polish a few semi-precious stones. I'll leave the footballing style aside as it both saved us and has then slowly, painfully ground us down - and in fairness also the opposition at times.

But now it feels like we've reached a crossroads. The season is now over in terms of play-offs and potential Premier League embarrassment next year, so we need to see a clear plan and intention from the OWNER. Is he going to give Mick one very last (!) chance...again...to see if the injury curse lifts and sidelined players like Huws, Dozzell, Bishop, Adeyemi and youngsters Downes and Nydam stay fit and improve our performance - and if so will he maybe even invest in and back Mick's last bite at the cherry right to the end - probably therefore tying his own fate to Mick's.

Or does he accept it's a fundamental change that is needed as clamoured for by over 70% of supporters and look to show leadership and direction we are asking him to provide from the very top, shake Mick's hand, thank him for his efforts in a dignified ITFC style, and find a worthy ITFC successor. A slicker, passing, footballing proponent with Mick's guile and steeliness within. Then crucially, back that person's vision with the required investment needed in this day and age at the changing of the guard, and admit it's probably the last roll of the dice he has in terms of the vision and help he can provide the club.

For now, Mick should (and I hope will) give the youngsters a chance of Championship experience, explain that all players are now fighting to stay part of his successors plans or put themselves in the shop window, and go out with a bl**dy great BANG, not a whimper.

I'll stick my neck out and say Good Luck Mick, whatever happens. But I think it just hasn't really worked as we all passionately hoped it might, even against the odds, and it's closing time at the last chance saloon. Now Mr. Evans, over to you...

Enjoy your day at the golf boys, whilst I'd imagine 95% of the Ipswich fans return to work only halfway trough the week, cursing that abosimal performance last night, thinking of 101 better things to be doing a 3pm again Millwall instead of spending 20-30 of there hard hard earned money.

MEXIT means MEXIT

Damn !!!

Surely you have got the message you idiot. The 10k that attended last night (it was nowhere near the 13k reported) told u how they feel and the rest that have walked away have made their protest with their feet. So I would love to know how you feel it is a minority that are against you.

Walk away now while you still can with some pride. You're not wanted here. You've lost the support of everyone and that utter bollox on the pitch after the game was 109% for your own importance. Don't tell me the players support you. If they did they would show it in performances rather than standing in the centre circle after the game because their boss told them to.

You're a joke. Get lost and take your donkey proper blokes with you.

Then and ONLY then can we return.
