Town Linked With Bogle Loan Approach
Friday, 3rd Aug 2018 09:39

Town are reported to have made a loan offer to Cardiff City for striker Omar Bogle.

According to Sky Sports, the Blues have made an approach to take the 25-year-old striker on loan for the season.

Bogle played for Blues boss Paul Hurst at Grimsby and scored 16 times in 2015/16 during which the Mariners’ won promotion from the Vanarama National League via the play-offs, the Sandwell-born frontman scoring twice in the final.

The one-time Solihull Moors frontman broke into the Championship with Wigan in January 2017 when he joined them for £750,000.

TWTD revealed that the Blues were among a host of clubs to watch Bogle in action for Grimsby just prior to his switch to the Latics.

Following Wigan's relegation to League One, Bogle moved on to Cardiff for £1 million last summer but made only five starts and seven sub appearances, scoring three goals, the first against the Blues, before joining Peterborough on loan for the second half of 2017/18. While with Posh he netted once in four starts and five sub appearances.

Town are keen to add another striker to their squad with Martyn Waghorn appearing all but certain to move on before the transfer deadline next Thursday with Derby or Middlesbrough his most likely destination, while a number of other Championship clubs including Sheffield United are also interested.

The Blues are understood to have made a £1.5 million offer to Accrington for Kayden Jackson with a number of other Championship clubs including QPR also believed to be eyeing the 24-year-old, who like Bogle spent time playing at Grimsby under Hurst.

As reported last night, Town are set to confirm the loan signing of Fulham midfielder Tayo Edun later today, while they already have two other loanees - Trevoh Chalobah and Janoi Donacien, whose move from Accrington is initially a loan but will become a permanent switch - with clubs limited to naming five in their matchday 18.

Not a signing that would really excite me BUT in PH I trust and if he joins I wish him all the best and hope he bangs the goals in for fun. COYB.

In this time of transition, please consider making a donation to TWTD to help fund the added coffee, energy drinks, keyboard fatigue, and increased shampoo useage by our stressed Phil Ham.

Your donation of just £5 a month can buy a bottle of Pantene, a large Costa or 1/4 of a keyboard.

Thank you for listening

It started well, but the old transfer game has gotten a bit panicky over the last 24 hours. Tom Bradshaw & Curtis Tilt on permanent deals please.

Agree Len Brennan..I don´t get the feeling that the players talked about now were Paul Hursts primary targets (names on the list he gave to Marcus Evans).

A loan move for him?...no I don't see that, when you think a year or so back we were thinking of signing him permanently.

God it's busier than amazon at Portman road, place must be buzzing with all the excitement. Must admit PH did say it could get busy

What are you muppets on about. Nisala, Nolan, Chalobah, Donacien ALL clear primary targets of PH. Tilt and Jackson both primary targets and may still happen.

I suspect that PH is a very happy manager.

I honestly wouldn't mind this move to happen as PH knows how Bogle ticks, if you can keep Bogle interested as I've heard he goes missing in games he'll be a right handful! Apparently Accrington have turned down a bid of 1.75m for Jackson & now want over 2m, HITC are reporting that he has now submitted a transfer request! COYB

Personally if we're in need of funds i'd offload Knudsen & Garner BUT tie Waghorn down to a new deal..Derby,Middlesbrough etc etc have had long enough to mess us around on that one.

Always a bit worried when we start resorting to loans.

Agreed, get Waggy in new contract as none of the approaches looking to get anywhere near our valuation. He'll still be worth £5+ in January if he continues his form of last season.
PH is getting his team together and now needs to get them settled without any distractions.

Will we get Jackson? Will Waggy go? Will Garner leave? The mind Bogles.
