Rhodes Not a Current Town Target
Monday, 7th Nov 2022 09:54

Former Town striker Jordan Rhodes is not currently a Blues target but the Huddersfield frontman was on a list of potential recruits in the summer, TWTD understands.

A report yesterday linked Town with the 32-year-old ahead of the January transfer window, however, while we understand Rhodes was under consideration at some point during the close season, he is not a Blues target at present.

Former Kesgrave High School pupil Rhodes, who joined the Blues as a 15-year-old from Barnsley for £5,000 after his father Andy became keeper-coach at Portman Road, was controversially sold to the Terriers by Roy Keane in the summer of 2009 having made only 10 sub appearances, scoring one goal.

After top-ups and 10 per cent of the sell-on when Rhodes moved from Huddersfield, with whom he had enjoyed a hugely successful spell, to Blackburn for £8 million in August 2012, the fee Town eventually received moved close to £1.5 million.

Rhodes, who has scored four times this season, rejoined the Terriers in the summer of 2021 following spells with Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City (loan).

Good. I don't want the fraud here. Especially after watching him celebrate Norwich promotion despite him being an ‘Ipswich' fan. Also saw him bouncing up and down to a song being sung by them lot what goes to the song ‘Jordan Rhodes one of us he hates Ipswich'…..

No thanks

I get the impression he doesn't have a particular fondness for the club anymore so I'd sooner have someone with the right attitude than Rhodes anyway.
Shame, as the treatment and sale by the Dark Lord Keane wasn't a reflection at the time of the fans, although some of his actions since leaving haven't helped.
Whole sad saga I'd sooner move on from.

Not for me. That ship has long since sailed.

I want him back, but I want him back 10 years ago. It's a real shame because the Dark Lord turned him against us.
Sometimes you have to just move on and try and build something better than in our recent history.

It never really works when an ex player returns to his old club with one exception Ray Crawford and possibly John Wark. He's not really the type of striker we require anyway. We need more of a aireal threat up front although Freddie Lapado has been showing improved form of late but we could do with another player of his type to challenge him for his place. Perhaps we should recall the Pompey Harry Kane (joking) .

I'm certain that KM and his staff know exactly the type of front man they want and they have a list of player that they are monitoring. Rumours are irrelevant.

It's a bit like Bonne, my heart says yes but my head says no. As others have said, that ship has sailed and we can find better at the other end of the age spectrum I'm sure.

Linkboy, why not bring back the pigg? He's getting his confidence back, and would be playing in a Town team that would actually offer him service.

No thanks. I think it's a crying shame we let him go and while I had no time for the Dark Lord I won't hold him to account for selling him. Missed potential is part and parcel of football, look at Mings! In KMcK we trust.

Roy Keane ruined the club, and the legacy is still felt....

Blueboy1981. Agree with most of ur post, but if you think Rhodes is wha we need ur much mistaken. Back in tge day yes, in his huddersfield day(1st time), not now. Certainly doesn't score many goals anymore, and as,Blackburn fans said about him, if he's not scoring, he brings nothing else to the game. So if what we need is another goalscorer, which I think we'd all say would help, he's not what we need. As to who we could get, as u say, thats another matter. But think if we are gonna sign a striker in January, it has to with a view to being some1who could perform in the championship, if as we all hope, we go up this season.

Saxonblue74. I agree with you re piggott. Trouble is, we can't bring him back as he's on a season long loan, with no recall available.
