Eustace: The Club is Waiting For the Right Offer
Tuesday, 13th Aug 2024 23:56

Blackburn boss John Eustace says his club is waiting for the right offer for Blues target Sammie Szmodics.

The 28-year-old netted twice earlier this evening as the Lancastrians won 6-1 away at Stockport in the Carabao Cup.

Town have been in on and off discussions with Rovers regarding Szmodics for more than a month.

Last month, TWTD revealed that the Blues initially offered £6 million and have had a number of other bids rebuffed, the most recent £8 million rising to £10 million. Some reports have suggested Town are around £500,000 away from Blackburn’s valuation.

“I don't know, it's not down to me,” Eustace told the Lancashire Telegraph when asked whether the Republic of Ireland will remain at Ewood Park following this evening’s match.

“Of course I want him to stay. He's been fantastic since I've been at the football club, the lads love him to bits.

“It's important he got 60 minutes, he hasn't played many pre-season games. That's half an hour Friday and 60 today, it's important we keep building his fitness up.

“He's very confident and playing with a great group of players, he's took his two chances today. He was very clinical and we've spoken about that.

“He's handling it exceptionally well. He wasn't with the group much over pre-season, this is his second game. He's a true professional, he's got on with his work and now it's down to us to get him as fit as we can for when the window shuts.

“It's down to the club, they're waiting for the right offer. They have a valuation and we'll have to see what happens and if it gets matched.

“It's out of my hands, I'm focused on the group, a fantastic group. We're giving him the right balance of keeping him fit and making sure the squad feel wanted and hungry. Of course, want to keep him, everyone would.”

Yawn give it a rest ffs. You obviously aren't going to pay it and every goal he scores we will just want more money. Don't you have nothing better to report on jesus christ it's boring now.

And to the poster about Gallagher we sold him at the right time because he's now out injured for 3 months.

No one's forcing you to come on here and read it, Cambsrover.

CambsRover14… Are you suggesting the club has a crystal ball? That Blackburn turned us down, waited until the end of the season, paying him an additional £400k in wages because they knew he was going to get injured as soon as they sold him? I know you are a Blackburn fan but there is a difference between being tough negotiators and acting in bad faith or being dishonest. Can you honestly tell me the clubs owners are honest and have acted in your best interests? Given their legal issues at home it seems they don’t have a track record for honesty.

that ground must be huge to fit the whole or Ireland inside it........."“I don't know, it's not down to me,” Eustace told the Lancashire Telegraph when asked whether the Republic of Ireland will remain at Ewood Park following this evening’s match."

I can't stand Venky's but they have ploughed money in to keep us going monkey I'd rather them waste their money than go under because without them we would be a Bury. Also I like they are tough at negotiating with. Also we can make you buzzing by beating the canaries on Saturday ;).

Why has no other Club made an offer to BB for Szmodics?

If we want to stay in this league Sign him we are a premier league club now! Act like one pay the asking price. This guy scores for fun.

Oh, come on Cambsrover. You and all Blackburn’s supporters absolutely love the Venky’s. They are propping your club up so maybe you should change the name to Venky Rovers?

Hopefully for Szmodics sake, they/you will be matching or exceeding whatever he might have earned in the Premier League, regardless of whether or not you capitalise on a good start - if you are to keep him happy. There again, maybe he’s not motivated by money and loves the club and town so much he’s happy with his current lot?

His choice, your choice. To not get taken to the cleaners by an owner who names a price then allegedly ramps it up when it’s met is our choice. If it’s true, would you deal with people like that?

This has been dragging on for far too long.

If we really want this guy then it’s a case of paying the asking price. If we are not prepared to do that then move on. Time is getting short and there is still a lot of recruitment that needs to be done.

Just wish this one was wrapped up or booted into touch, one way or the other ,really thought we would be ready for the Prem before the kick off .Think we are way off at present. Fingers crossed some decent loans will help at the death .

Town may have moved on………it seems every time Szmodics sneezes it get reported we are after him.
I think Blackburn want to sell him and need the money to strengthen their squad but want silly money for him and hoping to get other clubs in for him.

Leeds dropped out and possibly Ipswich……they may have shot themselves in the foot.

This is Blackburns only hope of cashing in really……

Can Szmodics keep them in the division again…… if not he is a year older, they will be in League 1 and his value will drop as his contract will only have a year left and any money they make will go towards lost revenue as gates will drop and no Championship money.

They have to strengthen and want to sell
