3 down at the close would he heaven.

It's yet another 'this will decide things' 10 overs or so. So tense!

Beaten for pace. Malan' s innings had the look of a plucky lower order batsman about it rather than someone in the top five.

🚨WICKET!🚨

Malan has gone. He batted really well I thought in a tough situation. The wicket is a beauty from Cummings angles in and taking the top of off stump. He got him straight through the gate. The sheer pace of the 89mph ball has just beaten Malan.

A really good delivery.

This test could go either way.

169-4

I'd say it's 65% Aus 35% Eng win here. Root has to be there at the end for me.

176/4 at stumps, pretty much half-way there. Still looks a stretch but if Root can carry on as he has been...

And to think some people don't like Test match cricket.

176/4

177 needed, more than enough time, just have to stay in. No silly shots tomorrow and we could do it.

Absolutely absorbing stuff. Great fight shown by England today with both bat and ball.

It's stating the obvious but Root is key here, needs to be getting 100 plus to give us any chance.

We have 5 batsmen who are more than capable of getting these runs.

If we show the correct application tomorrow, & have a bit of luck, I’m confident we can pull this off.

Tough thing will be starting all over again, but unbelievably they have given themselves a chance. I look at who we have to come and Ali and Bairstow have been our most consistent performers with the bat over the last 12 months, so there is hope. If we can get it under a 100 the pressure is then very much back on the Aussies and they'll be feeling it. The test is still the Aussies to lose, but much more heartened by England's display if they do down they have gone down fighting!!!

I’m confident.

Root & Woakes have sound techniques & they can get through the 1st hour tomorrow if the Aussies start well & if they’re off line they will punish them.

I don’t make Aus as strong favourites as some do.
