Love and loved The Kinks and although I have got almost all of their albums either on vinyl or cassette they were never for me a great albums band.
Their best albums in my view were Village Green Preservation Society and Muswell Hillbillies.

Certainly were a great band and made some of the all time great singles but generally I thought their albums a bit disappointing although I always bought them routinely.

ATWIAD Average?
I think it suffered from not being Purple Rain 2 that everyone was expecting.
Probably the first album where he decided to just start experimenting a bit more.
Come Awful? Prince didn't promote it since he wanted to get away from WB and move on. You could argue it is once of his darker albums, and again experimental, Probably his first album where he started to infuse some Jazz elements. And similar to ATWIAD, a complete change.
Last 4 "really poor efforts", my word, of course tase is subjected, but that is silly.
Some classics on those four that would stand up to anything he has done.
Clouds, Breakdown, Way Back Home, FunknRoll, Stare, June, 2 Y 2 D, Baltimore lots to like on those last four.
The guitar on Mr Nelson, is just glorious.
I found some of the lyrics more introspective and reflective than previous efforts, which also made them interesting albums.
