ITFC Forgotten Players on 10:35 - Apr 17 by bluesatin | John Jackson played for us once against Man U and we won 2-1 after conceding an early goal |
That game is a core memory of my days supporting Town. John Jackson was bought out of retirement for the one game. He had the movement of an old man but had little to do til he pulled off a great save in a one on one towards the end to secure us the points.

Not a forgotten player. It is well known that in the 38 games he played for us we averaged 1.53 points per game. If this tally had been over the course of a single season it would have seen us challenging for the play-offs and this at a time when we were otherwise flirting with relegation. He was rather overshadowed by the numerous better known keepers that were dragged in over that period, but as a team we did better with him in goal than any of the fancy dans who were better thought of.

I should put a disclaimer in my signature. I am not, have never been, nor will ever be ALB nor one of his family. Though I do think that that if we ever met, we could be friends.

Certainly not forgotten by me, or anyone else that was following ITFC in 1962. I was thinking earlier today that there are now only four of that team still in this world although they are still all in my head and heart.

Not many of that era either from a playing or supporting perspective still around, my father passed away 6 weeks ago and I fondly remember all of these players he mentions from the late 50s and 60s

Frazer Richardson is a good one No one has yet mentioned Jonathan Hunt, Sean Friars, John Kennedy or Patrick Kisnorbo - presumably as they’ve forgotten them I also suspect people like Ben Pringle will be on these types of list in a few years, although probably a bit recent for now Actually you could probably do about 7 teams of forgettable loan players given how many we’ve had in recent years. Reece Wabara anyone?

Was it ALB who was so nervous one match he was throwing up on the side of the pitch? It seemed like he was a very ordinary keeper who did the basics well, played out of his skin as if every match was a cup final for him and the defence seemed to be more conscious of the need to protect him. It seemed that worked better than the more talented keepers.
