Yelling The C-Bomb 15:12 - Sep 22 with 25197 viewsBad_Boy_Mark

The was a gentleman - and I use this term loosely - within our fans who frequently yelled out the C-Bomb at the top of his voice yesterday at any given opportunity.

I am not a prude by stretch of the imagination, but is this really necessary? There were many children at the game and of all the swear words that one could use, this is absolutely the worst...

Am I being too much of a Dad or do I have a point?

And do you shout the c word to the jockey when a horse you’ve backed has been well beaten?

Ridiculous example but no. No I don’t.

I think you are being a good Dad to be concerned, I have been in this situation at away games when I have gone with friends who are not Town supporters and their kids, it embarrasses us and does down our reputation as a club with a good group of fans.

Embarrasses us?? Ffs it’s a word! Get a grip.

Sorry but I find your reply embarrassing.

Yes, it is just a word but try explaining to a kid what it represents and why the person shouting it is so angry.

And then try and live with yourself as they tell you that is the place where you and they come from and ask you earnestly why you hate it so much.

And I have got a grip already, thank you

But the zip is going home.

I would get a new one but, you know, sometimes things seem outdated even if people tell you that is what everyone adopts now.

Why not? Can't wrap them up in cotton wool. They are going to hear swearing in adult public spaces. What terrible thing are you imagining happening as a result?

The point that I am making is not against swearing per se, as this happens at football matches week in, week out.

My issue is with the liberal and foghorn-style use of the C-word, as was the case yesterday.

Personally, I feel that it is unnecessary especially when it is obvious that there are young children present.

They found it rather amusing when the large-ish bloke in front of me turned round and said...."I do hope your not talking to me".

Can you give their swearing any credit for inventiveness? If it's just c**t this, c**t that, then it can be quite grating, admittedly.

But a well-placed whoospie word can add a bit of spice if properly used.

It's good to hear the different points of view on the subject.

My son is now 9, and our rule is simple. You will hear it, but never repeat it.

Although I had to grin when he told Luke Chambers that he sings his song nicely:

There are people who belt it out for the sake of it, so in that sense I get your point.

On the other hand, as a kid I always heard non stop swearing, and I couldn't have cared any less. I knew I was at a football game, not a play area.

I can swear with the worst of them, and have done at many games; frustration, joy...

But yeah if someone is repeatedly shouting obscenities throughout the whole game for the sake of it then he's a tw@t.

Indeed. You're more than welcome to bring your child into an adult space, but you have no right to expect anyone to modify their behaviour as a result.

Adult space? Am I right in thinking there is child pricing?
