Tyrone Mings' latest tweet 22:14 - Jan 4 with 6398 views | Mullet | I wonder if we'll ever see a story like his at our club again? I think he eclipses every "last chance saloon" type signing we've had doesn't he?

Tyrone Mings' latest tweet on 09:05 - Jan 5 by Keaneish | Why do you continually post about Mick McCarthy? Why don't you post about Alf Ramsey, Bobby Robson, George Burley, John Lyall, Keane/Jewell, Joe Royle or any other manager that had or flirted with any kind of success? (Before anyone jumps on the Keane/Jewell reference, we were 45 minutes away from a Wembley final, i think that counts). |
Could it be because this was something that happened yesterday, where one of former players tweeted about his time at the club under one of our former managers, perhaps?

Worked well for Mick since he left hasn't it.... due to his pragmatic and negative approach he snatched a ROI play off for the Euros from qualification earlier in the campaign.... serves him right and when they dont win said play offs maybe he reaped what he has sewn.... his approach may well have cost Ireland a place in the Euros....

They were only top of that group because of his pragmatic approach though Ultimately Ireland were the 3rd best team in their group and came third. He certainly hasn’t done an outstanding job, but he hasn’t done a bad one either. Unlike his successors here [Post edited 5 Jan 2020 11:42]

Dont get me wrong, I wasnt mick in or mick out and realised he did a great job with what he had available to him, but the football was terrible and never evolved during his time here. Watching Wycombe the other day was like watching us under McCarthy... wasnt pretty on the eye, but relatively effective. As a town fan it never sat well with me that every opposition team said we were the worst footballing side they had come up against that season...

I really dunno why you lot pander to these sorts of demands for attention, he has been desperate for my validation for ages now. Another who follows me far too closely and needs to take my name out of his mouth. He's still finishing explaining how Hurst has reinvented Skuse, after slagging the bloke off for years presumably. I can't believe I'd have missed such revelatory stuff from our resident expert. I long for the days he pretended to have me on ignore again.

"the football never evolved in his time here" This was "44 f'in 2" Mick who took us so far by reinventing what he inherited such as Wellens on the left, to 4231 with Cresswell for the aforementioned Mings in a totally different role at LB, to 3 at the back with Knudsen there to giving McGoldrick a free role etc. Whether all of it worked, or it was ever any good under Mick is a debate (it isn't cos it was) but to pretend he never evolved things here is another pernicious lie that needs to die. The reason some of us were so against his treatment wasn't just decency, but the fact that we're still being lectured now by so many abusive hypocrites, about all the great things that never happened since, does grate a little. Bitter opposition always say stuff like that too, anyone who thought that McGoldrick, Bishop, Murphy weren't ball players save the loanees or even Webster are tactically illiterate or just lying. There was always way more to us than direct football under Mick and that's being as conservative as he was with a lead.

Always looked pretty direct to me and he played for percentages. As I said i value and am fully aware of the great job he did for the club. Only thing I would point out is that, as it stands the ROI are now reaping his somewhat negative or pragmatic approach and he will have to live with that and the consequences that come with that | | | | Login to get fewer ads

But that's criticising Mick McCarthy for being Mick McCarthy, of course he has that element to his game. Same as Colin always has 18 strikers in his squads to ensure that the fundamentals are covered for how they want to play. Honestly go back and watch some of highlights and there's way more to us than the pretence of "hoofball". Even a game like the one at Charlton away where the ball switches between McGoldrick and Mings is a great example of the difference.

They’re not reaping his approach though - the 3rd best team in the group finished 3rd in the group, it’s about what they could have expected

Same reason post about Goerge Burley, Bobby Robson and Alf Ramsey - we like to talk about our GOOD managers who achieved things or had a bloody good go at achieving things.

Tyrone Mings' latest tweet on 22:20 - Jan 4 by J2BLUE | To think Evans handed Keane and Jewell millions and then failed to back MM even after he had turned water into wine repeatedly... Poor decisions at every turn. We might well be cursed. |
And it’s worse to think that some of our fans booed him, chanted abuse and booed young players when he had no money to spend and we were top half of a division we can now only look at. Some of our fans are morons.
