Yes, we're not that young at all. And hasn't been helped by the massive rotation that's seen youngsters get 30-40 minutes of League action per month even when they're often in the match squad. And then overlooked for senior players rotated in who haven't been on the bench.

I'm thinking players like El Mizouni, Dozzell, Kenlock, Dobra and Bishop here - Woolfenden and Downes have at least got significant game time.

Chambers skews the average though, he’s 98 or something isn’t he?

I thought you were talking about twtd for a minute. I know a large village green in need of a home guard.

Pike.

Godfrey. Wilson. Mainwaring. Frazer. Walker

Jones. Sponge. Yeatman.

Farthing. Cheesman.

Subs. Dolly. Cissy.

They won,t like it up "em.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

We have some very promising young players but we are not giving them anything like the amount of pitch I hoped playing at this level would allow us to.

Of course our large squad compared to many others in this division may well mean we do not need to rely on youngsters as much.

Pike - a keeper? Have a word with yourself. He lacks the dominance which a good keeper needs.

Walker is a creative central midfielder- not a full back at all.

'Dad's army' implies a level of competence and calmness that we don't have in our command structure.

It's almost like he's a shallow PR man who isn't very good at his job and is just reaching for feeble excuses to appease idiots.

4,410 minutes of that is Downes and Woolfenden together (who have both played in around 85% of League fixtures).

Plus several other regular squad members are just outside that bracket: Jackson (25), Garbutt, Huws, Norris, Donacien and Edwards (26).

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I like Godfrey as wing-back though. I know he prefers it on the wing but as a wing-back he can add a bit of flair to an otherwise workmanlike back 5. He does have the work-rates to pull it off but now being in his 80s his stamina has dropped of a little,

Godfrey could get his sister Dolly to make the sandwiches for half time too.

In the event of reverting to a 4 4 2 formation, Godfrey would move into midfield in a Jonathan Douglasesque role.
It’s all been thoroughly thought through you know.

I go with a 4-3-3.
Wilson
Pike Frazer Sponge Yeatman

Mainwaring
Walker(Cpt) Hodges

Jones
Godfrey Farthing

Jones plays as a False 9 allowing space for Godfrey with his pace
and Farthing with his trickery to create chances.
Walker is captain in an attempt to diffuse the tension between
the two other midfielders.
Wilson is in goal as he is , besides Walker, the strongest and
most agile of the group, and the most competent.

Walker in centre midfield, interesting line up there dear chap.
He could be the Jimmy Bullard type we are craving, plus a bit of a loveable scamp to boot.

Dad's Army, despite age and incompetence, usually ended up winning.
