They are now being told that if they go out other than for food or medicine they face up to three years in jail.

No one on the streets, only police and military.

Too right. I don't think we should rule out that happening here either. Italy are a couple of weeks ahead of us in terms of how the virus has spread though. We might get 'lucky' and coincide our lock down with Easter school holidays.

Aye, I've had similar conversations with people out there.

Still can't quite believe the number of blase people in my London office.

I assume some are still working, how does the food get to the shops, who is making sure water continues to flow to properties?

My friend in Italy has said similar. It's very scary and there's a lot of uncertainty.

It is mad how many people are still out and about in London without a care in the world from my Instagram. I've cancelled a tattoo appointment in Ipswich tomorrow as I feel it would be personally irresponsible of me to go. If I were to find out I have it, then gave it to the artist or a friend which then took down an elderly relative I'd feel awful.

Mate, you may be being slightly over-cautious on that one. Fair play though, important to do what you feel is right, and over-caution is deffo better than ignorance.

The amount of experts TWTD has in herd immunity, we should be able to overcome this virus pretty quickly.

If this is true then it seems incredibly draconian. I appreciate the seriousness of the situation but potentially 3 years in prison when you might just be going for a walk to get some fresh air?

An entire population being cooped up indoors for weeks is not exactly going to be of great benefit to public health either I wouldn't have thought.

Not sure why military presence is required on the streets either, surely causes more unnecessary fear and anxiety among people.

The current government are taking the advice of the CMO and the CSA.

Had Labour won the 2019 election then the same CMO and CSA would be giving the same advice to the new PM. Mr Corbyn would either act in their expert advice or ignore it.

I'm not convinced that this is exactly how it works. Asking for advice is not entirely neutral, much depends on what specifically you are asking for advice on. We don't know what kind of conversations have taken place.
