rubbish.

Berra lost a lot of respect from many when he done that, never even got remotely back to his best level after that day.

for what its worth I think with 11 men it would have gone to ET, even pens..... no idea what would have happened. either way whoever made the final out of us or them would have won the final after being on such a massive high from the semi

It's a natural reaction isn't it. A bit daft to say he lost respect. If they'd missed the penalty and we went on to win everybody would be thinking differently.

That stat doesnt sound right to me but if it is then how depressing.

I’m afraid it is, possibly give or take a minute, and it showcases just what a grind the Evans era has been - small bits of happiness, but never for more than quarter of an hour; the hard fought 1-1 draw IS your victory, so sit down, eat your gruel and be grateful.

As for the match, there’s no doubt it was a turning point, but then my abiding memory of the first half of that match was Paul Anderson clearing a shot off the line. Maybe, we’d have hit them with a killer goal late on, but as I said earlier, the Norwich side of that period had more pace and focussed intensity than we were able to muster. They never reacted poorly to setbacks, they just kept coming.

Must have had a very good manager in charge to get them set mentally.

Disagree. This won't be popular but I don't think we'd have won the tie. The goal would have settled their nerves and we'd have been well beaten. Deep down we all knew it was over once he got the red card. The pressure was off and it temporarily lifted the team. The fans rallied and the team responded.

I think it's rewriting history to suggest we would have won or even got to ET.

Nah, they were absolutely bricking it all of that game. The fear was palpable.

Yes, they were better than us player for player but they didn't play that way.

Not quite sure how you work that out. If he hadn't handled it we would have been 1-0 down

The way we were playing, the way they were playing and the way the crowd were reacting. That incident totally turned the tide.

Not convinced. We will never know.

Still think if Evans had have invested in January window - MM had lined up targets - the play offs would have been irrelevant as we’d have gone up automatically - but again we will never know.

Not sure that's the case that MM had targets lined-up. At the time he mentioned 'Rodney Marsh Syndrome', not wanting to upset the balance of the team by making many additions. He signed Freddie Sears to add to the strikers and - I think this is often forgotten - there was still the provision to bring players in on loan until the end of March at that point, a facility which was used. Biggest blow was losing McGoldrick to injury.

I'm sure Mick would have preferred Chris Wood (and Zeki Fryers?) on a window to window loan rather than on a sort term one and seeing him go back to sit on the bench at Leicester after he looked like he had just got into his stride

If I remember rightly they weren't too disappointed to see Wood go back as he hadn't really hit form. Would he have been signed had McGoldrick not got injured? It's difficult to recall the precise details. Wood had been injured, so he could have been targeted in January anyway with the move happening once he was fit.

The one which I think they were very disappointed not to get was Anthony Knockaert on loan in the February. That deal was just about done but he went back to France after a family bereveavement and had a change of heart when he came back. From what I was told he thought ending the season in the Championship might lessen his chances of being taken on by another Premier League club at the end of the season when he was out of contract.

as a professional footballer in a huge game you'd think a level of professionalism would have come to play, as opposed to Tony the crazy leftback playing over Gainsborough sports centre of a sunday morning whilst still pissed.

had he pulled that handball in the last min of extra time to keep us drawing, and they missed pen, then we won the pen shoot out of course it would be differnet. but 10mins after half time wasn't the time to pull that move.

We’ll be good again... one day

Was about to ask whether Knockaert was that season or the next one. Certainly would've been the type of signing that could've got us on the right side of some fine margins.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Typical modern footballers mindset - I’m not going to try and get a Premier League contract by lowering myself to actually playing football and helping a club get promotion. Possibly for the best though given what a melt the guy was whenever he had to take a penalty.

It would have been a lot tighter. They were definitely wobbling after Smith's goal.

They scored again just 4 minutes after we equalised.

In that split second you don't have time to think about it do you. Your instinct is to stop the ball going into the net.

Turns out the whole 90 mins is on youtube, if you can bring yourself to watching it it was pretty even first half but nodge still closest to scoring. As soon as they were under pressure they just upped the tempo a bit and we couldn't cope
