Cabinet Ministers all sending the same tweet out re: Cummings on 13:03 - May 23 by artsbossbeard | The last, final and sordid bit of Hancock's dignity has just left the building. He's def not up on the telly later. "I know how ill coronavirus makes you. It was entirely right for Dom Cummings to find childcare for his toddler, when both he and his wife were getting ill." |
But Cummings wasn't showing symptoms at the time so this is nonsense. And are they seriously suggesting that a high profile person such as Cummings couldn't have arranged for somebody in London to take his kids for seven days?

Also, he might be afraid of what a dumped Cummings might do. He is known to indulge in feuds (with other people formerly involved in the Leave campaign) and there are probably quite a lot of damaging things he could say about Johnson, if so inclined. [Post edited 23 May 2020 13:20]

People have been fined for this behaviour- and the government support it. There was no cause for pre emptive action. Otherwise, we could all have disappeared to live near parents, or friends, or at second homes using the same excuse.

If both parents we so ill as to not be able to look after their children then they shouldn't be driving from one end of the country to the other. Far too many holes in this story so I would imagine their will be more to come out. Cummings will have to go in the end so why not sack him now and look decisive? |
Chances are he will stand aside for the greater good (ie not be formally sacked), but be back again within a year. It’s a ridiculous silly dance.

He needs public support more than he needs Dominic Cummings. Johnson will try and protect his Chief Advisor but in the end public opinion will win. Cummings knew that what he was doing was wrong, hence keeping his head down and hoping to get away with it. More worrying is Jenny Harried making a political statement, in support of Cummings. She ought to go as well. Advisors must always be independent and not allow themselves to be dragged into politics.

😂😂😂😂 This is absolutely brilliant. Do you think they’re sobbing when they’re writing this utter drivel. Has there ever been a more shameless, classless set of charlatans in high office in what used to be a proud democracy? Britain is a laughing stock and we got what (44% of us) voted for.

Although on a slightly more serious note, they are of course all putting their political party and careers ahead of the lives of the people they’re supposed to be representing. No way can they expect anyone to have any respect for their guidance and rules after this, I expect millions of grandparents will be having reunions this BH weekend. [Post edited 23 May 2020 13:21]

I am not convinced pubic opinion will win. They are part of the Trump school of "deny it, accuse everyone of being unreasonable, and plough on". It has worked so far; arguably with bigger issues- proroguing of parliament for instance.

Gove doesn't have a soul to sell. If he's backing Cummings to stay in post then it will more likely be because this will hurt Johnson in the long term and get him closer to being PM himself.

Could he get from London to Durham without stopping for petrol? Without him, his kids or his wife needing to use the services for a pee? Imagine the amount of people he may well have come into contact with during his journey. Completely irresponsible and for somebody in his position it's a resigning/sacking matter.
