where does this end? blm has been a worthy cause against the real issues of racism, but its in danger of being hijacked by people being retrospectively offended on their behalf.

Fawlty Towers remains funnier than 99% of any comedy shows being produced today, and that episode is particularly funny. You may not agree with me in which case that's fine, don't watch it. It isn't in a public place glaring at you every day as you walk past. It is my freedom of choice that allows me to watch it, and that freedom of choice has been taken from me. I am being told what I should read, watch and find funny...that is wrong. I can see why the Major's original comment could cause offence today and so was removed many years ago. Fawlty is an absurd character who has a problem with every type of person in that series, be they male, female, black, white, Irish, French, German, Spanish, hotel inspectors, builders, doctors or Siberian hamsters. That is what makes him funny to laugh at. This censorship needs to stop.
Very well said sir.

My Mother in law sent me a meme on whatsapp this afternoon, it's just a bunch of holes with the words.
"These posts have been removed in case they cased a fence"
I ignored it as she's clearly referencing the news story this threads about and it's a bit thick and reductive to assume that the removal of content has been all about some kind of "PC gone mad" level of people being "offended"
Your Mum sent a funny though. Made me giggle a little
Sorry, Mother-in-law..

Getting slightly away from the OP, I can't believe that this was ever considered OK to air
And that it took until 1978 to pull the plug on beggars belief.
Because of Orville or the minstrels?
There were several million people who used to watch this! I think because people at that time saw it as harmless dressing-up and singing and dancing. There is no malice at its heart. It looks incredibly weird now and surely you only have to think for a few seconds to realise how racist it is, but i guess millions of people just didn't really think too deeply about it and weren't aware.
If there's one current programme that needs to be pulled it's Not Going Out - it's on in the room next to me now, and I've had to put headphones on and play loud Deep House music to drown it out - I find it highly offensive personally, as I get all anxious and fearful whenever I hear Lee Mack's whining voice. And that'll offend the Northeners no doubt :-)
You are the obsolete SRN4 to my Fairey Rotodyne....

In-laws are constantly forwarding videos their arsehole friends send them, they are almost always a bit racist and extremely unfunny.
Father in law used to always forward me videos of industrial/road accidents that for some reason he found hilarious, I had to have a word with him just letting him know that I didn’t really want to see any one get hit by a lorry, nor did I find it amusing when someone on a building site received an injury that warrants first aid.

It was the first example that came to mind, no I’m not ignorant to the issue, if you see my reply to Dan a little further down you will see some more but thanks for making presumptions rather than engaging in conversation as I said in my reply to him, I see you never replied to that post because it doesn’t suit your narrative

Nah, no big conspiracy or attempt to manipulate the “narrative” as you put it, I just had no interested in engaging with you on this subject.

As considered, erudite, balanced and articulate as ever, I see.
I can only imagine the pearls of wisdom and insight I am missing out on by not wanting to engage with you on this subject. You’ve really put me straight there, well played.

It's going to be put back on in a few days, just with warnings at the beginning.
#pray for footers and the moral majority.
And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Strange how you not wanting to engage with me on a rational conversation suddenly turns into me not being articulate.
Nice to see I was right the first time but maybe I should have put the word arrogant in front of it.
As someone who has never engaged in a conversation. With me on this forum I am not sure how you can have a pre formed opinion! Good going there
It’s not that deep mate, I just didn’t want to talk to you directly about an issue you’ve evidenced you’re a bit ignorant on, If that makes me arrogant then so be it.
We’ve engaged in direct conversation on here in the past and I read the board daily.
I’m sorry that referencing something daft you said in the thread and not wishing to engage in further conversation on the subject with you has had such a profound effect.

Hopefully it ends with no more TV shows that are offensive to Black people and minorities airing.
See they rightfully reinstated the Fawlty Towers episode with a warning at the beginning. Thats what should have been done from the start. It IS history, we just need to learn from it.

I’d assume that was always the plan tbh.
