Did hampy, after reading some of the replies, and trying to understand the full context of what people were saying, decide to spend his time looking for and then post an example of a victim of a physical attack, acting in a way that Hampy find annoying.

So far as I'm aware, many right-wing journalists and authors are also incredibly annoying but yet it isn't inevitable that they're attacked by the left.

The issue is also that this isn't some simple panel discussion. Portillo represents the original right-wing, Brexiteer politics and Neil has been a "bastion" of the right too with a Spectator magazine that has a very dodgy record in promoting all sorts of anti-minority nonsense. Presenting the other side of the argument to the one they've been spouting unchallenged for decades is pretty important.
FWIW Neil annoys me far more with his opinions and overbearing attitude but I'd never see that as him asking for a slap. I'd see that he's asking for someone like Owen Jones to give him a taste of his own medicine.

Having met Owen Jones on several occasions, he's a very nice bloke. Sorry to break it to you, but he seemed very level-headed, open and willing to chat about anything. No hint of pretence about him.

I wonder if Hampstead's ever been assaulted.
I have and there were one or two idiots on here who suggested I must have been asking for it.
They have never met me, were not party to my situation nor the conversations involved, and one went as far as to retell what I had written about the incident for their own benefit. Not so dissimilar in that respect.
Some people will twist anything to suit what they want to believe. It's hardly a new phenomenon of course and is on display daily. Having the foggiest what one is talking about hasn't been a requisite when it comes to speculation for some time now.
