Agree with you on 6. Still prob my go to, but the daytime stuff usually grates after a couple of hours.
Sometimes go to Heart 80s for some simple pleasures, otherwise I listen to albums as I still buy about 10 a month. |  |

Am I right in thinking when 6 started out they didn't have a 'playlist' as such? Maybe that's what has slightly diluted it, in that you get that bit of repetition - or am I not remembering correctly? I didn't think it used to be quite so formulaic as it can sometimes seem now? | |

I think that's right, the playlist has become a bit of a blight for me, as even songs you like start being annoying when you hear them 5 times a day, every day... | |

Has to be 6 Music. Great variety but the downside is I sometimes have to turn it off for a few minutes!
Lauren Laverne - pretty good
Mary Anne Hobbs - a bit annoying. Plays some stuff not really suitable for late morning slot (see above)
Shaun Keaveny - always raises a smile if not a full on laugh
Steve Lamacq - not that keen tbh. Annoying voice
Marc Riley - excellent

Absolute is for work.
Five live for sport or a little bit of politics.
Absolute radio have their no repeat guarantee but the small print says they will repeat it all the next day for about a month. Hey good tunes though. | | | |

I should add in here, that I do a few radio shows, one lot focussed on dance music, the other one very much current indie/rock/psych/americana.

Don't really tend to listen to the radio much anymore since I have Mixcloud and hundreds of shows saved. I suppose it would be Absolute 80s for the Forgotten 80s show on a Sunday and their singles and albums chart on the same day. I listen to Radio Suffolk for the match commentary. My husband likes Radio X. We also listen to Popmaster daily and Pick of the Pops on a Saturday on Radio 2, and Sounds of the 80s with Gary Davies on Radio 2. Not like the good old days in the 70s and 80s where used to just flick through all the radio bands and find plenty of interesting channels and music - I miss those days. |  | | |
