Had Evans not given a 5 year deal 13:30 - Nov 25 with 1930 views | FrimleyBlue | I wonder if Lambert might have quit He clearly feels he hasn't got the squad to play how he wants He can't play 4-4-2 as then we will play even worse The players we have available are to nice. To young and not up to it Can't look at any other formations for the same reasons above Why does he bother to wake up every day.. I'd have had enough by now if that's how I felt about the squad available to me.

I know it is. But he clearly feels very different. I wonder how he gets the urge to go to football everyday with that feeling

Had Evans not given a 5 year deal on 13:33 - Nov 25 with 1897 views | J2BLUE | Can't play 442 at home in league one when we're lacking midfielders and have reasonable options up front. I think what he means is he can't put Judge in the team if we play 442 and therefore it's impossible because Judge is the league one Messi.

The only person Paul Lambert cares about is Paul Lambert. I wouldn't imagine he would care 1 bit if he was sacked tomorrow.

If he felt that way he could've let most of them go at some point or another. [Post edited 25 Nov 2020 13:51]

Sure he can. He could play him wide left like he's done all the other times he's played 4-4-2..

Had Evans not given a 5 year deal on 15:22 - Nov 25 with 1665 views | Chrisd | The timing of the contract and length of it was utterly ridiculous. I could understand it if were playing fluent, attacking football and beating sides comfortably, although we were top of the league we were very much grinding out results without looking convincing. If ME had got rid of PL in March it would’ve looked really embarrassing a few moths down the line of a 5 year contract, why offer it? Also, from PL’s point of view why walk away? He’ll stand to lose a considerable amount in salary. Nevertheless, a financial agreement needs to be reached between the pair because we aren’t going anywhere fast with PL as our manager that’s clear as day. [Post edited 25 Nov 2020 18:59]

On paper yes, but in reality it looks like we’ve got quite a few that are now past their sell by date.

This will undoubtedly be his last job. A truly awful manager

I would hope that in the close season there was discussion about the break clause in the contract, if not we are in a difficult sacking position. Evans is supposed to be a bright businessman.

People keep saying this about our squad but I just don’t see it. Yes, it’s a big squad but, once you strip out the players coasting to the end of their careers, the sick notes, the players who are not even good enough for the third division and some of the youngsters who appear to be vastly overrated, there’s not a lot left. What we have is the result of years of selling our better players and replacing them with worse ones.

I suspect that its a game of chicken between Lambert, who is hoping for a big pay-off; and Evans, who is hoping that a break clause in the 5-year contract will be triggered soon. In order to stay in the game, Lambert must go through the motions of managing the club, even though it is obviously very stressful for him. Evans will wait until the end of the season, at least, even though it is very stressful for the club's supporters ...

He wakes up on a matchday without the feeling of needing to win a football match. He actually said that. Did Evans not even notice? I mean, that has to be one of the most alarming things I have ever heard a manager say. How on earth are you supposed to motivate your players to win if you're not actually that bothered yourself?

There is surely nothing that triggers mid season of any great note unless we are crashing and burning?
