Possibly - the one rule for one, one for everyone else doesn’t help either, where scientists and advisors are travelling freely and then not shown the door for bringing the rules to disrepute. And perhaps the fact that the Government overdid the positivity early on instead of preparing the public for the long haul. I understand why, to try and get compliance early on, but then people got into the mindset this would only be for a few months.

Tier 2 it is then... on 11:38 - Nov 26 by portmanking | It's absolutely ridiculous. Why are we putting ourselves under 3-4 months of depressing restrictions for the sake of a few sodding days?! |
It's not really for the sake of a few days. The evidence is there that when restrictions are relaxed rates and deaths go up. Can you explain to me what is wrong with restrictions being in place given vaccines are on their way?

Can you explain why we are unlocking for 5 days at Christmas? And whether you think that will extend the time we require to be in Tier 2 for?

I don't think we should be Joe, at all, relaxing restrictions over Xmas. And yes, of course it would extend things. The evidence is clearly there that once you relax, cases go up. Care to answer my question. [Post edited 26 Nov 2020 11:46]

I read an article on it a while back but you are right, could be some cognitive bias on my part due to the fact I see absolutely loads of people ignoring the restrictions. I'll see if I can find something later. SB

I was expecting restrictions in place, I don't think a huge amount wrong with that - but this all seems geared around trying to save Xmas rather than the long term benefit of getting out the other side

Is that the review date? I am in tier 3, but am assuming it’ll remain that way through to end feb at least.

I have no problem with restrictions. It's the unfairness and disproportionate nature of these new ones. We went into Lockdown for November in Tier 1.... 4 weeks of Lockdown later we're coming out a tier HIGHER!

As I have said, it is very clear that once you relax, numbers increase - so this Tiered system is about seeing us through to Spring(ish) for the vaccines - it is not about a few days at Xmas.

Ta. Still would expect it to run through winter. Was hoping to be back to non league football next month, but would think this might finish the season for my lot now. Just hope they don’t go bust. At least the kids footie can still start again in a week or so. And the gym will reopen. It’s bloody cold running outside.
