Royal Mail were supposed to deliver us a parcel on 15:34 - Dec 11 by Ryorry | Next door neighbour had exactly the same experience 2 weeks ago, which led me to come to same conclusion as you, esp given amazon's easy replacement policy. However, he emailed me back 20 mins ago saying item was eventually found by another neighbour 1/2 mile away ... |
Had you raised an issue straightaway or had you got that second email before you'd raised anything? I just wonder if he realised he'd been caught out so just delivered it to someone by his next drop.
Royal Mail were supposed to deliver us a parcel on 17:28 - Dec 11 with 3878 views | factual_blue | It arrived while we were out. Despite an instruction to leave it inside the enclosed porch (which was unlocked), it was left outside the porch. Clegg Out.

Fair play, you got him to type something for a change. Has someone nationalised his down arrow button?

How could you leave a parcel inside the enclosed porch? You have to unwrap it to get the porch out first, then what would be the point of putting the wrapping back. Effectively you'd just be turning your parcel inside out. To what end? Clegg In? I am getting more and more confused by stuff like this. Is absinthe good for you?

I did raise the issue straightaway & then emailed my neighbour to say I'd had the same experience as he'd had 2 weeks ago (they'd emailed me at the time, asking if I'd seen theirs. Both were v. small packages - mine was quite expensive reusable masks x 2 + a pack of spare filters). However - shortly after posting that in this thread, took my dog walkies & guess what, as I was opening garden gate on our return, dog did a major sniff-in of something wedged in the wall by the gate - there, upright like a v. slim book between stones of similar colour & shape, was the package, soaked through. Don't think I'd have found it for weeks if mutt hadn't! if you wanted to conceal something you'd not have found a better hiding place. Don't know if s/he'd come back, or it had been there all along, but that gate is solid wood, never used for deliveries by anyone & is out of sight round corner, so why anyone would leave it there when their van was parked for 2 mins, 5m from front door with a table to one side of it with a sign on saying "deliveries here pls" ...

Royal Mail were supposed to deliver us a parcel on 19:25 - Dec 11 with 3803 views | swede | Strange. I had an email and text from Royal Mail to say that my expected parcel would arrive between 08.19 and 12.19 today. Nothing arrived. I checked on their tracking site and it was still at their depot in Chelmsford.
Royal Mail were supposed to deliver us a parcel on 19:52 - Dec 11 with 3780 views | StNeotsBlue | One of the few bits of def info I've broke on here was the privatisation of the Royal Mail the day before it was announced. Only other successful claims I've made were Chopra going to Blackpool, Tidsdale wasn't in the running for the Town job as he was bound for MK Dons and that's about it.

Royal Mail were supposed to deliver us a parcel on 15:17 - Dec 11 by Ryorry | Waited for [redacted*] delivery this a.m.; watched from other side of glass front door as driver sat in van for 2 mins, never got out of it at all let alone attempt to make delivery; left & then 1 minute later I got the "package handed to resident" email *OK, Amazon "Prime" (I know, I know) who are actually even worse than Hermes, which I didn't think would be possible for any courier to 'achieve'. Cancelled free trial membership. Royal Mail are v. good round here tho. |
In some cases, I believe the Royal Mail now act as agents for Amazon so in some cases, it can be them actually doing the deliveries The world is upside down

Royal Mail were supposed to deliver us a parcel on 15:32 - Dec 27 with 3576 views | J2BLUE | My biggest problem with delivery companies is them leaving parcels for my neighbours in my porch. I say biggest problem, it's happened once, but the burning injustice still claws at my very soul of having to go and talk to neighbours for 30 seconds. Just as bad when they ignore your safe space and leave it with a neighbour. Especially when they don't tell you which neighbour and the little card leaves no clue where it is. Idiots.

The thing these companies can't grasp is that believe it or not and for what ever reason not everyone gets on with or even possibly knows their neighbours, I had a situation a fair while ago where my parcel went missing, rang RM and they said it had been signed for a day ago by Mrs Bloggs at number 4.....I never received a card, so I went round to number 4 and she said "oh yes, I forgot about that I have it here, hold on...." Sometimes they put on the card where they've left the parcel and you can't even read the hand writing..... I know they can't win either way at times, some people are quite happy to have it left somewhere or with someone, saves hassle and time of going to the local depot to pick it up. With more parcels being delivered now then ever before you'd have thought a proper secure plan of action would be put in place, loads of stuff must go missing..

You can get a sticker from Royal Mail to take your parcel back with them and not leave it with neighbours. I have sent the link - we have done this years as do not want that pig next door to have our parcels. Just do not trust him! Note - it does only work for Royal Mail post. Despite the sticker being on your door - Hermes/Amazon and other delivery people it does not apply to. https://www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/delivery-to-neighbour-opt-out
