Stay home etc etc

Close the bloody takeaways and click and collect options.
Close the garden centres etc
Close the phone shops. £1 shops

Otherwise people will just keep going out.

How stupid are they

Agree with most of that.

Takeaways should be allowed for delivery and drive thru. I think drive thrus are popular because they allow people to get out with minimal risk.

Yeah agree with that

I guess I mean picking up a pizza etc.

I went for a walk yesterday there was a waffle van. Queue of at least 40 people for it not one mask in site. Barely 2 metres apart.

Agree. I have no idea who wants to go collect a pizza etc or have a walk around Poundland. I'm terrified of getting this virus and passing it to family.

You didn't go on a lads trip to Greece or have a pub crawl earlier this year then? Good lad.

McDonald's problem is they don't have the Drive thru and App capacity to match demand so they are now talking about opening up to walk in take away again. Same as before Christmas.

If you’re young and healthy without underlying conditions there isn’t much to fear as long as you isolate and don’t pass it on. I had it in Jan last year before I really knew what it was. A bunch of friends have had it too and we’ve all had the same symptoms, some more severe than others ie : lethargic, loss of taste and smell, fever, cough... it really is like a bad flu. Friends with asthma have suffered the worse with respiratory issues and have had to monitor their oxygen levels.

Fevers lasted 3 nights, the lethargy about a week but all in it took about 3-weeks for my cough to go.

To be fair to Poundland there’s a lot of cheap food in there. There’s a lot less essential shops than Poundland open

Agreed. I find it mystifying. I don’t want it or to pass it on either. If I get it, I might be lucky and not get too ill, but why put yourself and others at risk for a crummy pizza??? Many people are doing there best to avoid this virus. Many others whine about ‘confusing instructions’’ while doing their best to push rules to the boundaries and beyond. For me they’ve missed the point. Reducing the risk of catching it can only be done by them as individuals.

Others are in Trumpesque denial and a good number of young people clearly don’t think it’s anything to do with them. But the hospital and death stats, including the falling average age of patients, disprove the conspiracy theorists and the views of a lot of young people. Until they get their head around this pandemic and what they have to do, it won’t go away any time soon. The virus is spread by people and their actions. Not governments, however useless they are - and we have just about the worst there is.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s utterly bizarre how much attention is being paid to the minutiae of the rules around recreation, arguing over what constitutes a picnic or whether we can sit on a bench?

The simple fact is that people sitting on a bench in a park may not be helpful but half a mile away our towns and cities are still busy, offices, warehouses, factories, call centres, construction etc all carrying on and schools over half full

I work in the countryside and traffic is almost non existent but when I come home traffic at rush hour is almost normal. This isn’t people going to click and collect or to get a pizza, it’s people continuing to go to work, which is allowed under the rules. We had a booking for a blind fitting at the weekend which we’d forgotten about/assumed wouldn’t be happening but he turned up as if all is normal. It isn’t his fault either, or his employer, they’re following the rules and desperate for the money.

It’s seems obvious to me that it’s not lack of compliance with the rules that’s the problem, it’s the lax rules in the first place. Obviously that narrative doesn’t suit the government but it’s depressing how many are happy to buy it and start blaming each other.

People are doing their best to push the boundaries. They DO know the rules by now, but it's convenient that the media keep banging on that the rules arnt clear. It plays into the morons hands. My Mrs and l have kept to the rules for months now. But once a month l have to go get our prescriptions. I hate it quite frankly. I noticed Monday when l went to get them kids around town, why? They arnt at school, how come they are hanging around town in groups? 14-16 year olds who clearly know the rules. Why arnt the parents enforcing this. If the police had time, which they clearly don't, the parents should be fined heavily for them loitering about for no apparent reason. This is never going to be cleared up at this rate because no one is taking it seriously it seems. The rules need to be tougher.

I have no fear of catching it myself, my biggest fear is passing it on to somebody else who may be more vulnerable.

No, you sum up very well my thoughts.

The govt has a narrative and the amount of people repeating it shows it's being quite effective too.
