After all, it went SO well the last time we cleared out a load of senior pros and brought in 'hungry' lower league players.

We have an option on Jackson beyond next year, which we should take up, given that Championship clubs were prepared to offer £1m for him last summer. However, as we've hardly played him this season his value will have fallen so we'll be lucky to get £500k for him. Another great bit of business by Town.
Nydam should also be kept as he is young player with potential once he gets fit again.
I wouldn't miss any of the other 6.

The idea was/is the correct one with Scrooge McDuck owning the club. It'll take years of perseverance to correct the mess that we are in though.

Jackson, if played correctly could be a real asset for us.

The rest on that list probably are at the end of their time here, maybe not Nydam.

A hue amount of respect for Chambers and Skuse for their service, time to move on though.

Judge, Huws, Sears, Ward, Nsiala, Wilson, Donacien, Drinan to go.

Edwards will walk.

Jackson we will extend and try to sell.

Nydam, Bish, El Miz, Downes to extend deals.

Perfect chance to clear out all the dross/squad filler:

Sell/Release:

Cornell
Donancien
McGuinness
Wilson
Ward
Kenlock
Nsiala
Nolan
Huws
Skuse
Sears
Jackson
Bennetts
Norwood
Hawkins
Judge

Build a side around:

Holy
Chambers (one more year, then coaching)
Woolfenden
Baggot
KVY (if he is ever fit again)
Bishop
Dozzell
Downes
Gibbs
McGavin
El Miz
Dobra
Lankester
Nydam
Edwards
Folami
Drinian (backup only)

Jury is out on Thomas and Harrop.

Sign a proper Striker and another wiseman, a left back and that's it.

Keep a small, mostly youth squad and no pointless loans. Will win the league.

There's quite a lot of flaws in that argument.
Downes, Dozzell and Bishop won't be here next season.
We have a manager who is totally disinterested in coaching and motivating his players, so an over youthful side would flounder badly.

And that's for starters.

You’d keep Drinan but release Norwood?

Never fit and higher earner.

Clear out, QUALITY over quantity. Drinian is a cheap back up.

Rather than pay Norwood and Jackson high wages, get rid, raise some funds and buy one decent striker.

Think you've just posted the U23 team haven't you but with Chambers wandering around fist-pumping here and there...

The amount of potential change so quickly worries me a bit. We’ve not had a manager capable of reinventing a side for years. We certainly haven’t got one in Lambert.

Any chance Evans can persuade Fergie to come out of retirement?!

The biggest problem that we have is that Evans ain,t got a scooby doo . So instead of trying to build a more formidable squad we carried on with the status quo. We carried on building a team around Chambers, Sears and Skuse.

It saves Evans a lot of hassle when you just keep plonking in players on loan.
All we got was relegation and now we are a mid table League One outfit.

Why do people automatically think playing youngsters is the way forward?
It really isn’t.
We’ve got one or two decent lads and a few that need a bit more time, we also have a lot of also-rans.
Setting us up with a majority of kids is the quickest way into League 2.

Oh, it can be a lot worse. There is a reason why most U23 players from the leage drop to the conference or Scotland for loans, and that reason is they aren't capable as a group to handle L1 football.

See Bolton who had to rely on their youth for a few games last year before they were 'rescued'

The real problem stems from the fact that Evans allowed Hurst to squander £5.5m on 6 average 3rd division players. Lambert is no genius, but he's worked out that most of them aren't good enough so they rarely start. Lambert hasn't has room to improve the quality in the squad - very few of the team are his choices so he's had to rely on a combination of what he inherited & some kids, most of whom won't be good enough, or cheap cast offs like Wilson.
I don't think Lambert's getting anywhere near the best out of the squad, but the idea that any average manager would walk the league with the current Town squad is pure fantasy. I would say you could build a decent League 1 team around Woolfenden, KVY (injured all season), Downes (only just returned from injury) & Dozzell, but that's about it.

Yeah, that's not really true, is it?
Lambert has a massive squad of players. All but four of them were either brought to the club under Lambert or signed a contract extension during his tenure.

At this point there are four players - Nsiala, Huws, Nydam and Jackson - who he's been stuck with. Of those, he could have cut his losses with Jackson in the Summer. If Lambert had wanted to, he could have rebuilt this club with new players. He chose not to.

Agree about Jackson. He's hardly played this season, partly because he doesn't fit into Lambert's 4-3-3 system. Given we knew that in the summer, we should have taken the £1m+ on offer in the summer, which would have freed up funds & wages.
Edwards was given an extension by Lambert, which was fair enough & I think he's a decent player at this level.
Lambert did extend Nolan's contract & I think he's just an average 3rd tier player, but sadly that's where we are.
