Out of contract Players 14:43 - Feb 4 with 1089 viewsBlueandTruesince82

Who would you keep?

Bishop, when fit is still a class above in this Div.
El Miz- Young, looks like a player is in there, needs to develop
Morris who had a terrible injury and deserves chance to get back from that
,
Divisive I know but would also argue for Wilson

Everyone else debatable, my knowledge on the younger players isnt strong enough to comment

OUT OF CONTRACT IN SUMMER (without one year extension option)

Edwards, Clements

OUT OF CONTRACT IN SUMMER (with one year extension option)

Wright, Przybek, White, Ward, Chambers, Cotter, Wilson, Nsiala, Donacien, Andoh, Skuse, Huws, Bishop, Nydam, Gibbs, Hughes, El Mizouni, Judge, Drinan, Sears, Morris, Folami, Z.Brown, K.Brown

Bishop
Gibbs
El Mizouni
Morris
Possibly Nydam.

You could probably make an argument for some of the others but it wouldn't bother me too much if they left.

I do wonder where Huws will end up. Not a great injury record and has looked slower since coming back.

I don't think we'll have much of a chance with Edwards, I imagine a Championship club will offer him 3 times what we can with the salary cap just so he can sit on their bench....

Definitely Bishop, El Miz, Gibbs.

Morris & Nydam deserve another year to get fit.

I’ve liked Zak Brown when I’ve seen him as well.

The rest wouldn’t bothered if left, although some could make a case for a few others.

El Miz, Bishop, Morris, Wright, Nydam, Gibbs, Drinan, Folami, Brown & Brown

If we are in this division, then I'd likely take an option on Wilson and, oddly, Cotter (he won't be big wages and I do think there is a player there).

Chambers and Skuse I'd let go but with a big thank you for their service (freeing up substantial wages). I'd let Huws go - he can play but given his injury record I'd free up his wages as well....though if we can stay fit and play to the level he can, he should be a huge asset.

Bishop
Nydam
El Mizouni
Morris

If we're still in League One, it might be worth keeping Wilson Drinan and maybe Cotter as squad players if they're cheap.

Several of the others are youngsters who I haven't seen enough (or any) of to have an opinion. This includes White, Andoh, Gibbs, Hughes and the two Browns.

Does anyone know if the one year options count as an existing or new contract for the purposes of contributing towards the salary cap. Asking in the context of players with existing contracts which currently exceed the average and are therefore counted at a lower rate for cap purposes per the introductory measures?

They will be new contracts.

That’s why some options were taken before the cap came in.

The majority will leave unless the players are happy to take a big wage cut.

This year was the one where we had to go up as we had better players on bigger wages than most others.

Sadly our very well paid incompetent manager has done his incompetent manager thing and our incompetent owner has let him do it because of the stupid contract extension he gave him last year.

We deserve so much better than this.

I'd give Freddie another year or two and play him up front with a partner

I agree with you bar Folami. I think that if he was good enough he would have broken into the team by now. I reckon he’ll stay in Australia at the end of his loan

If as many were allowed to leave as some suggest here, we almost certainly not be able to make a concerted challenge with the youth that is left plus the few freebies we would enlist. That being the case, I wouldn't give up on Skuse yet either as he has no speed to lose, but still reads the game better than anybody we have, and could play centre half in any emergency (which equals a lot of the time under the current regime). Won't make us competitive, but no point in chucking away any solidity we have without proper replacement.

Adam Przybek - young keeper who seems to get loan moves and doing well at internetional level

Bert White - Stick in the U23s

Luke Chambers - has played every minute so far this season, still well worthy of one

Teddy Bishop - He's been very good tgis season

Gwion Edwards - As per Bishop

Tristan Nydam - Versatility if he can cover from injury

Liam Gibbs - No brainer

Idris El Mizouni - Great young player

Aaron Drinan - Been impressed with him this season and plays a role you get better at as you get older

Zak Brown - Good young striker who needs opportunities

Release:
Bailey Clements
Harry Wright
Stephen Ward
Barry Cotter
James Wilson
Toto Nsiala
Janoi Donacien (If new manager comes in I'd take up the option though)
Levi Andoh
Cole Skuse
Emyr Huws
Tommy Hughes (Unlucky with injuries)
Alan Judge
Freddie Sears (assuming he has little impact between now and summer)
Ben Morris (Unless we can get a cheap deal and send him on loan as he's over 22 now)
Ben Folami
Kai Brown

If we do release Nsiala, Wilson, Ward and McGuinness, I'm assuming you think that Evans would allow us to sign significant replacements at the back?

Just my opinion but Drinan is a National League striker. He should be nowhere near the first team
