At what point do you think an “official” announcement on the takeover is made? When it’s all signed and sealed and would this be from Marcus or would we have an official statement from the new owners?

It is a safe assumption to make that no announcement will come until the ink is on the line. We've seen too many times in football, and business, where takeovers are all but signed and sealed before breaking down. |  |

The information in the public domain is his salary and length of the term, which would total circa £2m. As you say there are clauses in place that limit the payoff. It’ll be closer to 1 years salary than 4. |

If your criteria is physically seeing the contract, then yes there probably aren’t many to have done so, and I certainly haven’t. There are people privy to such information though and I’m reliably informed there are clauses in there that limit any payout quite considerably. Evans is quite an advocate of them apparently.

They’re paid whatever is agreed in the contract that both parties have signed. Managers contracts and players contracts are very different, there aren’t standard contracts for managers like there is for players.
specifically re. Lambert at Ipswich, I’ve been told the club wouldn’t be required to pay him out the full 4 years remaining, and that it’ll be ‘significantly less‘, i.e. a % of the remaining term. | |
