EU being silly over vaccines again 11:18 - Apr 26 with 6536 views | Pinewoodblue | A French company , Valneva,, have failed to reach an agreement with regards to their Covid vaccine currently at phase 3 trial level. The reason being they will not agree to all the condition the EU want to impose. Basically it is a repeat of what happened with AZ. UK government signed up for 100m doses last September and assisted financially in the development, and building of the plant in Scotland. We have priority on order fulfillment. https://valneva.com/press-release/valneva-switches-focus-to-bilateral-discussion

The two programmes were entirely distinct and very different, hence us not ending up with pest control companies ending up being awarded multi-million pound contracts to produce vaccines. I'm not sure how you having some involvement in the ventilator procurement programme gives you any insight into how the vaccine programme operated.

Think it's fair to say that Chambers would never have got those ventilator contracts if it wasn't for his closeness to Mick/Tory party

EU being silly over vaccines again on 12:51 - Apr 26 by Pinewoodblue | EU admit they were too cautious having one eye on the cost. Strange how the UK approach to vaccine expenditure is lauded while it really isn’t any different to the approach to the urgent need for PPE. Only difference I suppose is none of their chums could jump on the vaccine bandwagon. |
Cost? AZ have worked for free.

EU being silly over vaccines again on 16:20 - Apr 26 by blueasfook | Absolute nonsense. My own company was involved in the taskforce for sourcing ventilators at the beginning of the pandemic. The taskforce was headed up by a govt minister and consisted of a number of non-govt industry experts. i dont recall many pencil pushing civil servants being involved at all. |
It would have helped if you'd actually read what I was talking about, i.e. the vaccination programme roll-out. Not the procurement of ventilators.

The intelligent part of the UK would have written correct English, namely 'The EU is not fit for purpose'. And the inverse relationship between education and voting leave has been demonstrated time and time again. So both your grammar and grasp of the facts is lacking.

Perhaps future data will prove you wrong, as its only been around 4 months since we totally left the EU it's probably to early to form an opinion. I haven't seen much from the EU that suggests we made a bad choice over leaving. Before you accuse me of being a gammon. right wing, foreigner hating little Englander . You don't need to be looking to the EU. The issues are lying right here in front of your own eyes. Have you not seen nor read a word? Over a trillion of investment has already left the country. Businesses are suffering and some will never recover.

The data is already there, mate. Those with lower educational attainment were more likely to vote Brexit. Those with higher educational attainment were more likely to vote remain. That won't change as the vote has already happened. Have you looked at the data relating to exports to the EU since we left? It's pretty bad, mate, especially for those in fishing and farming, but in other sectors too there are issues. Have you seen what's happening in Northern Ireland as well? I'm not seeing much in the way of benefits to the UK of leaving, mate, but I am seeing problems.

Education is not in itself a sign of intelligence though is it? It's a sign of academic ability which is not the same thing. I know plenty of people who didn't go to university or even college who are very clever, they just didn't learn well in a classroom environment. If education is used as the thing to corrolate voting choice the case could be made (and I'm not suggesting this to be true just using it to make a point) that education and link to brexit vote is merely a demonstration of left wing indoctrination and bias found in institutions of higher learning.

Any evidence that's not purely anecdotal to back any of that up? The idea that higher education indoctrinates people to be left wing is rather bizarre. Loads of university students are studying STEM subjects these days, what is left wing about numbers and atoms and sh!t? Having spent a fair bit of time at uni myself, there is nothing inherently left wing about them as places. They are just bricks and mortar. Some politics lecturers at my uni were left wing, others were right wing, some were centrists. There's usually a mix.
