This 'old man' had every right to call Radio Suffolk with his views. His opinion, obviously not in line with several commentators on here, is as valid as any other's. Be kind, people. We are all entitled to our opinion - the 'woke' generation who try to kill diversity of opinion are more of a concern/threat than a caller to a radio station expressing views you don't agree with.

As it happens, I don't agree with him. But we must have principles.

A NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHES!

The 'woke' generation have as much right to point out that he's talking sh1t as he does to talk it.

In any case, I thought his generation were supposed to be all rufty-tufty and able to roll with the verbal punches and handle some bantz anyway?

Diversity of opinion?

It's Radio bloomin' Suffolk.

How is thinking half the callers are a bit naff being 'woke'?

Do any of you people have any actual definition in mind when you use the word?

They’ve wheeled embarrassing spanners on Radio Suffolk for years. Rich from numskullville giving his weekly drone before nurse gives him his medication. Jeez, spare me. I’ve long since switched it off or turned the volume down.

Lambert should have been booted out Dec 19. I was hoping he’d be binned every week after that. Typical of Evans to get that wrong. With hindsight, Cook should have been brought in last Nov to at least give him a transfer window.

In part he's right

Cook should have come in either december, or May, not Feb It was completely the wrong time to do it.

Think we're forgetting the mess and the angst that was being created by PL, by the end he seemed like he'd given up himself his whole demeanour was very negative. We might have been hovering around the play offs; not at any point towards the end of his tenure we look that we could be a top 6 side. We won those 3 games on the bounce, but we were far than convincing. Some people have very short memories. PL was never the answer, although personally I was prepared to give him that first season in L1, in hindsight he should've gone after our limp relegation.

He should have been sacked in May 2019.

He got us relegated without a fight and then persisted in playing loanees and part-timers who were never going to feature in a full season in a series of rotating systems and formations.

Whichever way you look at it, even if it was a 'free hit', he still managed to fail at it.

100% agree with that. That's what I meant when I said that I'm not sure Cook coming in October or November would have made much difference. He should have been here before the start of the season to sort it all out properly.

I agree as well that it would have given him a chance to get rid of some of the worst players and we wouldn't have wasted our time with these pathetic loan players, just not convinced it would have been enough as we still wouldn't have had any shots. Evans was still here then and he wouldn't have splashed the cash to let him buy anyone decent.

You wanted Evans to say to Cook, "look I know we're nine point away from the play offs with three games in hand but I just don't think you've got what it takes to get us in there so i'm giving it to Gill".

You think Cook would have accepted it? You have the benefit of hindsight. I am not the type to go back looking through your posts but i'd be amazed iof that was your position at the time.

The answer is probably a lot simpler. Evans was unloading the club and Lambert was entitled to a pay off if sacked or made redundant. The change in ownership made getting rid of Lambert much cheaper as his pay off became part of the sale. They inserted Cook to evaluate what they had bought with someone else's money - and help them fill in the gaps in their plans for next season which by necessity are more hands off and long distance than even Evans.

And they must be now wondering just what they have bought - and what is so good about Cook

Nah. They're the people who find the News comments too challenging, never mind the intellectual cut-and-thrust that is this place.

Have you read the comments in the EADT? Not just for football but for any story. They are way worse. It is just a succession of people who think that being negative and cynical makes them look clever. Spoiler alert, it doesn't.

I can't get radio Suffolk but what used to get me were the callers that hadn't seen the game or the others who went droning on and on every week. Still sometimes it was quite amusing on the way home.
Happy days hopefully will return
