I did also wonder whether Donacien is being viewed as a CB back-up rather than full back in Cook's system.

Would anyone see him better there than Nsiala or Wilson though? I suppose he's better on the ball than Toto and at one-on-one defending but I don't see he's strong enough.

The ongoing value of the asset is of crucial importance - if Jackson was worth £2m with one year left on his deal (in Covid-19 times) it would be madness to assume he is worth £0 now.

With 1 year on his deal, off the back of last season, at a time when a huge amount of players will be available on a free, I would say we would be lucky to get £250k. For me it's more likely that he stays here beyond the summer window and becomes a regular feature on the bench.

The only issue this time around is he's off the back of a pretty poor season - injury and form - and I doubt we'd get anywhere near the £1m which was offered.

I imagine we may get something around £500k for him, which I suppose is better than nothing.

Jackson and £1m, plus add-ons for Luke Jephcott, jobs a good’un.

Even if that valuation is true, you’d be effectively letting £250k walk out of the door for no reason.

You’d back our new back office to have been a part of this decision making process here, and they must fancy being able to sell Jackson (because it seems apparent that Cook doesn’t fancy him much).

We need better as a back up to KVY, if KVy can't stay fir then we can't survice with Donacien - he doesn't attack and that is what Cook is about.

He couldn't get near it ahead of a 35 year old Chambers this season, if he is still here next season I'll be disappointed

Disagree. KVY clearly number one but Donacien good enough back up IMO. I know he's not great going forward but defensively he's sound. Not sure we're going to find much better to sit on the bench.

Truly impaired.

Funny seeing some posters on here who were determined Cook would clear out in particular the likes of Jackson and Donacien, desperately finding a way to now excuse it because if Cook made the decision it must be the right one.

And whilst £250k isn't a lot in transfer terms, it will
pay the wages of a lot of back office staff for a year. It is still a lot of money in the scheme of things.

He simply wasn’t ever given a chance under Lambert though. He’s got good reviews from his loan spells.

How motivated would you be if no matter what you did you would never get a chance here? Maybe he gets a proper pre-season under a manager who doesn’t hate him from Day 1?

I've seen him play plenty of times for us, Accrington and Fleetwood and we know exactly what he is - a strong one on one defender, decently positioned player, who gets a nosebleed when he crosses the half way line and offers nothing in an attacking sense.

He suits a wide role in a back 3 - which Cook doesn't play

He isn't an attacking full back - which Cook requires

He is just a terrible fit for a Paul Cook side.
