Anyone tried Psilocybin (REF: BBC 2, tonight)? 23:31 - May 19 with 4606 viewsThe_Flashing_Smile

I've known and read about this for years. Obviously it's not new - it's the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, which has been known since the 60's.

I didn't make it to the end of the documentary as my laptop died, but it seems fascinating, and well worthy of more research (as opposed to what the big Pharma companies serve you).

I honestly feel like we're at the beginning of a drug revolution that will evolve the human mind, but which governments want to quash (for obvious reasons) and docile and ignorant fools (like chico, sorry but it's true) will eschew because of said governments.

I wish people would wake up before I die.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Interesting that of the dozen or so people on this thread who say that they did shrooms or E's in their yoof, more than half say they wouldn't do so now, and wouldn't want their kids to. I never tried, simply because I never came across them or anyone I knew using them, tho I've lived in many places in the UK - London & Oxford in the late 60s, Ipswich in the early 70s, & various places abroad (but not Holland)

I'd have thought one of the main problems with unregulated buying or collecting from wild, is that you can't be sure what you're getting. Some black market ones (according to one US report I read) were just ordinary mushrooms laced with LSD. Collecting from the wild risks picking & consuming some truly poisonous ones by accident! If officially prescribed, at least those risks would be eliminated.

I'd have thought you country types were always out in the woods looking for fly agaric to lick Ryyory!

We still have a bit of a Christmas rave up but it's getting tamer as the years go by. The comedowns are too much to take these days!

I don't have children but wouldn't be against them taking either, but daddy would have to sample it first to check for quality. So long as they're not doing anything secretly, then I think it's fine to let them have fun in a responsible way - ie steering clear of the proper nasty stuff.

Funnily enough, my Dad was an avid & experienced mushroom collector, had read all the books. We used to regularly go out with him on his hunts for them in local woods - returning for the biggest fry up ever of them & eggs was one of the highlights of my childhood! Chantelles were our fav.

Often took in a wild swim in Wisley (Surrey) Lake before or after. The Pinewoods & heath there were very good mushrooming ground.

I gave the boy an E when he was a youngster as I wanted to make sure he was ok with them but he now reckons he had done them previous.

Another time had a great day out around the pubs of Ipswich with my Mrs, daughter, son and dad plus a few others. We were all e'd up including my dad and it was the first time he had done one.

My mum went mad when he told her.

Genuinely loving the idea of a lucan family day out on the pills.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

It was at a time when a family friend had The County of Suffolk and everything was a bit bonkers to be honest, there always seemed to be one of us in there at any time. Really crazy stuff, it was a genuine 24/7 thing and I was extremely flush at the time, in fact I had almost a year off.

Looking back it simply wasn't sustainable and our friend who owned the joint was worse than us.

What a chapter that was though!

My god, this is a walk down memory lane. Purple Ohms, batmans, microdots. Gorbachevs!

When I was 18-19 a lot of weekends were spent tripping, often in Cindy’s and Olivia’s. You hear horror stories, but I found it fun and fairly doors of perception-y.

Best experience was seeing The Fall on acid.

Wouldn’t particularly want to do it now, but wish I’d seen the documentary.

It'll be on iPlayer.

Nope. I'm one of those docile and ignorant fools who finds that life has enough natural highs to offer without having to pursue anything artificial.

You sound like my "Drugs are bad, mkay" mate, Glassers. I want to experience as much of life as possible before I shuffle off. It's only governments that make alcohol/fags fine and drugs bad. It's nature, is the way I see it.

Whilst a full on libertarian and fully paid up tee shirt, I have to say I am less enthusiastic about a legal free for all these days.

Too many casualties.

Yeah I completely understand where you are coming from but as you get older you see more things (this is 100% not meant to sound patronising but it probably does) and you sometimes take a step back.

I'm not even sure it would stop the gangs as they would simply undercut the chemists.

When my kids were very young I vividly remember thinking to myself that I couldn't wait for them to go on a sortie with me but now I look at my grandkids I just want to close the doors and wrap them up in cotton wool.

I said to my dad once that I never realised what a nightmare of a son I was until I was a father myself - and now I've gone another generation and it's gone further down the track.

I can't explain it.

Went to a Roast event at the island in Ilford, that was an interesting night..

World Dance was another epic night, gutted I missed the one at Lydd Airport

I went to a World Dance. Cant for the life of me remember where it was. Don’t think it was Lydd Airport. Great days.
