So bradley... we weren't even in for him then on 18:44 - May 28 by Herbivore

Have you read the article? What detail?

Yep. The detail about checking social media to see the rumours about him. The fact that Ipswich are mentioned several times and he says there was nothing in it.

This isn't important though, he hasn't signed for us. Not sure why you're steaming in this late in the thread when everything's been discussed.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

In the article linked in the OP the player doesn't even mention Ipswich by name once, let alone several times. Mostly he's talking about why he's staying at Luton.

Go for it, if you wish to believe 'unknown sources' over a players own account. each to their own.

Think you're being pretty disrespectful to Phil to be honest but then nothing stops or interrupts your torrent of brain farts.

You just said yourself you dont like speculation. I've agreed and said I will at this time believe the words of the player unless of course it comes out in future he has lied.

Jesus, are you desperately trying to win the internet or something?! He says "There was nothing in them" - referring to the Ipswich rumours (which he's clearly been asked by the reporter). The article also says "He was checking social media every morning to see rumours about an Ipswich move."

If you're trying to claim he wasn't talking about Ipswich because he didn't say the name then you're making yourself look rather silly.

I think what you've done, as you often do, is avoid the points made. He's clearly talking about Ipswich (and the reporter is).

But no, it's 'Dollers being Dollers'.

It's Friday night mate. I'm sure there's something better you could be doing than having a pop at me. I don't even care, I barely know anything about the player.

It's so weird. I swear Herbs cares more than Phil does. At the end of the day Phil and Watson got it wrong - he didn't sign for us, for whatever reason. I still rate both as journalists.

The transfer window hasn't even opened yet. What a fun, and long, summer we're in for!

IF he had spoke with us, it would be easier for him to say " Yeah as a player out of contract there was interest, I spoke with Ipswich however Luton where i'd rather be " he'd had gained even more respect from luton fans for turning us down..

I don't see why you'd lie about talking to us when it would be very easy for town/PC to counter that at any point, he'd look like a right twt.

I agree with another poster on this thread, agent at work....

Completely right on this one, all player rumours come from 3 sources,
1, Club itself
2, Players Agent (game playing no pun)
3, Player itself but very rare
If you read these stories between the lines you start to see the patterns and where they are coming from.
E.g. Jermaine Defoe complete non starter which I would put down as the agent fishing for interest for one last payday, we have recently had a takeover with cash circulating.

What a fool, can't believe he's decided to play regular football in the Championship rather than join a third division side going through a rebuild after consecutive midtable finished. What a mug.

His decision. With all those tattoos up past his Adam's Apple, no wonder he felt at home in Luton.

I look forward to seeing us sign some players who genuinely see us as an exciting opportunity rather than just a chance to hike up their wages. He didn't seem too worried about staying in the Championship until his team-mate got sold did he?

But it isn’t just about cold hard cash, is it? Proper players are also about attitude, a desire to improve, build their careers etc. Its what Ivan Toney has done after leaving Newcastle and full credit to him.

I think at this club we’ve become so accustomed to a trail of chancers, old men topping up their pensions, journeymen, sicknotes that we think that’s all there is. I can understand that with a club as rotten as ITFC there was a limit to what you could attract. I’m hoping that from Tuesday we can do a little better. Peterborough are better than us in every way for goodness sake. Peterborough. It’s hard to believe, but they are. It’s a dump of a place too. Surely we can compete with them in how they do things.

For every Bullard, Chopra and Taylor, there’s a Murphy, Mings, Walters and De Vos. Matt Holland didn’t come here just for the money. He wanted a step up from Bournemouth in his career rebuild, liked the lifestyle and what he saw.

Finding the right players, hungry players will be hard and take time, but it can be done and it won’t just be about the money in my view.

But using Matt Holland as an example he turned down a move to Premier League Aston Villa who were (and are) a very big club because the third year of his 3 year deal would be lower at Villa than it was at Ipswich.

If all things are equal then players will look for better opportunities etc, but no one is taking a lower wage to play in League 1 than is offer on the Championship if it is there. We will have to overpay to attract players from that level.

It might not be all about money, but that is and always will be, the most importnat thing whatever they say. Look at Bradley here, our well connected hournos, and apparently those on other side, thought deal was done but Bradley/Luton has a change of heart and he's there and makes out that it was never an option to do anything else.

Sorry, Herbs. Drink had been taken on top of a soupçon of resentment towards the player. Never a recipe for coherent thought.

If we are linked with anyone from upwards of League One, I will treat it with suspicion regardless of how nailed down it appears to be until they are holding a Town shirt up in front of the Cobbold Stand,

I think it was more Luton couldn’t afford to offer Bradley a contract so he had to be shopped out. Once they sold Pearson they had extra cash so we’re able to make an offer.

I read that he’d turned their first offer down. So he was clearly keeping his options open until circumstances changed.

I personally see it as

Luton offer £5. No.
Agent goes out.. Bradley to agent if town offer ... I'll go unless Luton offer more.
Agent does his job. Luton cant offer more. Rumours start bradley joing ipswich.
Luton lose couple of players. More money available. Increase offer to Bradley... contract signed.

Bradley at no point actually close to joining town.

Just because the player says that's how it happened, does not mean that's how it happened. It's called playing to the crowd.

If you believe everything a player comes out with then you're a lost cause. The fact is he is still a Luton player and that isn't changing so who cares about the how and why?

Yes, because of course he is going to come out and say “I was going to go to Ipswich for more money but Luton then coughed up more cash”.

Stuart Watson and Phil are both very reliable. They can both get stuff wrong because of the nature of the beast, but not usually at the same time (one corrects the other). As they both sung from the same hymn sheet I’m confident we were close to a deal - now, this may have been with his agent and not Bradley himself but he is now, understandably, playing lip service to the fans. There’s no point hanging on his every word.
