Because it’s iconic.
Apart from the trophies themselves it’s probably the first thing that stands out in the traditional team photo from every great side we’ve had almost.
The font itself is horrible and out of date if you see it anywhere else. But it’s a small link to the days we were one of the greatest in the land and we should rightly protect any small link like that to those days. |  | | |

Wow. Tough audience. So many who cannot “get” a joke or “take” one.
I blame the schools!
Thought it was pretty clear I was not complaining about the font on the stands or anyone’s desires to keep or change it. Just using a very old, bad pun for a tongue-in-cheek comment on the never ending debate about whether attractive football is more important than winning football.
Someone wants to change the look of the letters on the stands, which of course include the “f” in ‘football’. And we of course endlessly debate the effin’ football.
