You don't even know the sex of the reporter (clue: it's at the bottom of the article) and yet you know they got this "development in the story" from a contact at WBA?! He could just be guessing and making something up on a slow news day for all you know.

You don't need to know a reporter's gender to know how journalism works fella. Half my family are journalists. I worked at the Cambridge Evening News for a year. The reports from a local paper. The way local papers' sports departments get their stories are from contacts within the club. Local sports journos don't make stories up or they lose their credibility at the club. And as local journos they generally only report on one or two clubs so they can't afford for that to happen. Its a development in the story because the fact that someone inside the club is saying they are putting the move on hold until the new manager has had a look at him has not (to my knowledge) been reported before.
