Or that he would be celebrating as a former England player (one wh experienced a number of bitter disappointments) seeing their successors win through to the final of a major competition?

I did see it and it didn't immediately think of it as a low jibe.

That would be far more fitting.

He had a little grin on his face as he said it, made eyes at Keane who chuckled. It was very clear to me what he meant.

Unacceptable behaviour if true. Hopefully appropriate measures will be taken.

I’d just like to see a wrap on the knuckles for making fun of a national heroes’ alcoholism if I’m honest.

I saw it too, and winced at the insensitivity of the remark. Would have expected better from Neville.

I raised an eyebrow at the comment but while there should be no place for politics in sport, it made me laugh because he was right.

The standard of leaders in this country over the last couple of years has been poor but looking at that man there [Southgate] he is everything a leader should be,” Neville said on ITV. “Respectful, humble, tells the truth, genuine. He's fantastic Gareth Southgate and he's done a great job.”

I have to say, there are a lot of snowflakes across various social media getting upset by an ambiguous comment from Neville.

A talented footballer who has had huge issues with depression during his career, addiction issues ever since, and has had pronounced periods of abusive and serious delusional behaviour.

Just a very flawed man.

Beckham did a lot more for England, and carried himself with a lot more class than the average footballer, yet gets tons of stick. I don't get it.

In the heat of the moment it was easy to miss as most where only half listening to what was being said amid great celebrations of a fantastic night . But i also noticed it and have too agree it was a horrible thing for Neville to do .

Allegedly had an affair with a bird who later w*anked off a pig on national television.
Class.

However, yes I agree Beckham gets more stick. But here's why.

Gazza - Beer swilling national hero in the 90's a time when beer culture as something to aspire to.
Beckham - Married the most annoying Spice Girl, Got married on a throne, Wore a Sarong, Wore the same clothes as his wife, seemingly let his wife style him all in a sport that loves a beer swilling national hero.

It really is that simple. Beckham didn't fit in, and he'd be seen very very differently if he broke through now instead of in the mid 90's

Fancy the Champagne Socialist Neville having a 'pop' at Corbyn like that. I guess he should stick to football.
