There are some disgusting scenes of violence coming out of Wembley tonight 23:31 - Jul 11 with 14442 views | unstableblue | We need to start looking at ourselves after this tournament, as a country, as a national team fan base Southgate and the players were a beacon of good values and standing up for a good movement against racism Then throughout we’ve had the ugliness of booing of the knee of government monsters and MPs backing those who booed We still have this tabloid and right wing media that link our national sport to jingoism and xenophobia We are a laughing stock under this government and these scenes tonight just are a national embarrassment - alongside booing other national anthems We are better than this

And how do we justify the scenes in Leicester Square? on 09:24 - Jul 12 by ITFC_Forever | Ah, I thought I had seen a clip where England fans were waiting for the Italian fans outside. Watching it back, you're right. It's England fans with tickets giving those breaking in a slap or two. |
There’s a video out there taken from inside a concourse of (mostly it seems to me) young people rushing the open disabled access door and older English fans along with stewards smacking the absolute granny out of them & chucking a few back out. Edit; just seen that’s the video you’re talking about! [Post edited 12 Jul 2021 9:58]

Not going to a pub for 25 years because it will be filled with Morons waiting for a chance to punch someone. Is that your take on your local? Certainly not mine or any other establishment that I would choose to frequent. In fact, in all of those years I have never seen trouble in any pub I have been in, and I've been in a few.

Where have people been for 40 years? We have always booed opposition anthems. It's far, far less vociferous now. Most other nations do it, this isn't limited to England. Go to a Netherlands v Germany match. Old Wembley could be a horrible experience, I dont think I ever sat in my designated seat, some meat head would be in it itching for a fight. Very intimidating for away fans. Barely any women or children in attendance. England fan behaviour is not getting worse, it has improved dramatically. Labour governed the UK in the late 90s, do you apportion blame on Blair for our fans' actions during that time?

Good for you. In the meantime don’t dismiss someone’s worries on the basis of their experiences as claptrap just because you haven’t had the same thing happen to you. It’s very dumb.

Lucky you. I have witnessed plenty of trouble, after England games, up and down the country. It's not a myth.

Perhaps it would help if you read what I actually said, and not what you think I said. That I haven't been to a pub for an England match. I didnt say I hadn't been to a pub full stop, did I?

It was seen as a tradition amongst some of Ipswich’s population to smash up whatever pub you were in once England went out. Late 90’s early 2000’s. Saw it with my own eyes. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I am fully aware of what you wrote, which basically says you refuse to go into a pub for an England match as there will be trouble. It was that I called 'claptrap' My local was full of families having a whole lot of fun last night, not a bad word said and we all helped clear up the garden and bar afterwards.

Not just the pub, a few shop windows would get smashed as well on their way home. Remember seeing it bad in Euro 2004 when we lost the group game to France (Cock and Pye) plus Curve Bar for a 2006 game. I don't go to pubs to watch England in major tournaments, too often they are just full of absolute blowhards and if we lose the atmoshpere gets nasty quickly. Nowadays the industrial quantities of coke that gets snorted by the England fanbase seems to fire it up further

Black Tiles 1998, Beckham getting sent off and then seeing the place take a nasty turn, TV's thrown, Glasses being thrown through windows, believe they stopped showing any sport after that game. Haven't been to a pub to watch England since.

Yep Columbian marching powder and Stella isn't a great mix. Would rather be at home watching it, then being able to go straight to bed and sleep off the disappointment.

How is it claptrap? I didn't sneak along to watch the last 16 match against Ecuador in 2006 on a disguise or anything? What I've stated is a fact, I haven't been to watch an England match in a pub since 1996. If you had a trouble free night last night, then fair play to you, hope you had a good time, and to be fair, I expect there was no hassle in village pubs. But if I don't decide to go to one for the reasons I've given, then thats up to me. If you don't agree with my reasons, then do be it, that's up to you.

"Always the atmosphere that if you, as a football fan, praised something the opposition did, like score an absolute cracker like Denmark did the other night, you'd end up with a kicking" No, not always but ok, you stay at home.

It's just so brazen everywhere now, it's effectively been legalised. And what it does to some is give more energy to people who have had too much to drink and should be passed out or f**king off home, and others makes them massively angry and fighty. Sure there are plenty who do it, who can 'handle it' so to speak and just get a lift from it - but there's too many who clearly can't.

There are some disgusting scenes of violence coming out of Wembley tonight on 14:23 - Jul 12 with 1367 views | Giant_Midget | I could write a short essay about yesterdays experiences, but will keep it brief, as to be honest I'm quite mentally drained by the fallout from last night. There was clearly a lot of people who went to Wembley without tickets, and clearly an element of people who went with the intention of getting drunk and causing trouble. I've been fortunate enough to attend all except the Scotland and Ukraine games this tournament as well as a number of England games previously over recent years. And a big part of the matchday experience has been having a couple of cans on Wembley Way and soaking up the atmosphere. That atmosphere yesterday felt very different I'd been in London most the day and while the vast majority of people were good natured, it became clear that there was a nasty element of people around. I witnessed Italian fans being abused in a way that goes much further than anyone's interpretation of "banter". And cans and a traffic cone being chucked about. The security was poor, to enter you usually show one steward your covid status and the next one, your ticket on your phone, who will then activate it, so you have a barcode that allows you through your allocated turnstile. This process normally takes 10 minutes. Last night, the covid status was barely checked and no one checked or activated my ticket. This is why I think a lot of ticketless fans even got to the turnstiles. I found a steward who was able to activate my ticket. When I got there my allocated bank of turnstiles weren't even working, I don't think they were staffed (possibly short staffed). I found another turnstile which would take me to the upper level and got through that without issue. there were large groups of people roaming looking for turnstiles to storm or tailgate. Getting in to the stadium usually feels joyous and exciting, last night felt like a relief. Once in, the good atmosphere I'd grown to know and love was back and the roar after Shaw's goal was like nothing I'd heard before. I was about 10 ft away from the allocated upper block for Italian fans after the game a number of England fans shook hands and congratulated the Italians. Back on Wembley way after, I witnessed 2 incidents of fan on fan violence. Ending with a positive note, this England team is one to be genuinely proud of. I'm in my mid 30's and the teams I remember growing up with were somewhat of a let down. This bunch are very talented and there are real role models in the team. The last few weeks watching England I've been sat in the most diverse football crowds I've ever been in. the result and todays fallout is disappointing. But, we all have fond memories of the games against Germany, Ukraine and Denmark. Weather we were there, in the pub with friends or family. The vast majority of people are pleasant and good, lets not allow the idiot minority to drag us down.

I went to Ascot in 2019, was completely flabbergasted how rife and brazen people were.

They won't be so happy when they have a massive heart attack and heart failure. Not being holier than thou on this, I've done it all in my time.

This was for a ticket crowd of 60,000 and goodness knows how many further. A lot of those will have been very drunk etc. I compared this to a Ipswich Norwich game, and the news report I read said they have 250 on duty, for a crowd of 27,000 at noon, without all the hangers on.

we were stood next to some coppers on WW, and said how the hell are you suppose to deal with this, they said they'd specifically requested only cans were to be sold around the ground (off licences etc) and anyone with bottle have them taken off them.... this didn't happen. I was watching bottles fly through the air and land in the crowd of 150/200k down WW, the damage that could cause isn't worth thinking about. majority of people were walking away from the stadium towards the tube so were only there for the atmosphere. we got to the bottom of the steps and no covid check.... got the next bloke to activate ticket and a senior steward pulled his team, I heard him say "we cant handle this".... at that point people with tickets ran up steps to get to turnstiles before those running up there without tickets!! utter madness, 4 turnstiles at entrance A for 1000/1200 people, no queue, just masses. as we got near the front the pressure from behind got bad, kids getting lifted up, arms coming out to get a bit more room to breathe properly. London was a fcking cesspit of this countries cnts yesterday, pieces of sht, shirtless smashing bottles singing about Scotland getting battered everywhere they go - ironically they didn't get batter here.... of the 3 games I done, germany/Denmark/Italy, the final rates a 2/10 for me. horrible experience.
